Patricia “Pat” Elizabeth Hayman was born on November 11, 1944 at Sandringham House, the Queen’s Castle, in England, to Conrad and Lorraine Hayman. At the age of 2, she moved to the United States as a result of her dad’s military assignment. After residing in South Dakota and Cheyenne, Wyoming for several years, the family moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she attended middle school and high school. Pat was a free spirit who engaged in many adventures that lead her travels across the country, where she met many friends along the way. In her late twenties, Pat packed up and moved to Austin, where she immersed herself in the live music scene and loved attending venues such as the Armadillo World Headquarters. She loved the natural beauty of Austin and loved to swim in Lake Travis. She was very clear about her support for the Democratic Party, and took a great interest in local, state, and world government. She attended Austin Community College and graduated with honors. She spent the last 20 plus years with the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Division for Blind Services, where she retired as a valued employee. Pat had many undeniable qualities that included impeccable spelling, a gift for story-telling, a great sense of humor and a sharp wit. She enjoyed many varied interests. Her love knew no boundaries, but none greater than her love for dogs, whether it was her show dogs, rescue dogs, or family pets. Pat departed this life on May 16, 2014 after a sudden illness. She is survived by her son, Steven Bumgardner (Jill); her daughter, Catherine Booker (Ron); four grandchildren, Brooke Bumgardner, Dane Bumgardner, Kayla Sanders, and Jasmyn Booker; her sister, Mary Jean Dallefeld (Richard); niece, Christine Dallefeld; and her treasured companion, Ellie Rose. Patricia never met a stranger, and was blessed with a host of loving life-long friends.
A celebration of Pat's life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
