He retired after twenty years of service in the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant, where he served in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the armed forces, Woody worked for the State of Texas Air Control Board for twenty five years before retiring. Woody and Doris built a house in Lago Vista to enjoy their retirement and have family get-togethers. He was an active member of the Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Woody loved the Texas Longhorns and was a season ticket holder to several sports, and a Life Member of the University of Texas Alumni Association.
He is survived by his caring wife Doris Wood and his children and their spouses, Chip Wood, Michael and Ronda Wood, Carol and Don Hamilton, Don and Kim Wood, Rob and Kathy Wood, Bill and Brenda Wood, and Ken and Claudia Wood. He is also survived by siblings Phil and wife Rose Wood, David Wood, and Betty Fickle. Grandkids; Becky, Christian, Will, Matt, Renee, Tanner, Katy, Ryan, Brianna, Paul, Riley, Emily, Joey, and four great grandkids.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 6, 2010 from 6pm to 8pm with a Rosary recited at 7pm. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10am. All services will be held at Cook–Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home and Cemetery in Pflugerville TX.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Weingarten, Dr. Trentin, and Dr. White for their sensitivity and care given to our Dad.
