November 20, 1948 was a special day in Texas history. That’s the day that Mary Ann Muncy was born in Galveston. Ann passed on June 24, 2021, in the arms of her loving daughter and surrounded by her close friends. Ann is survived by her only child, Dionne M. Muncy, and her granddaughter, Mia Celine Chikarberg, who loved playing with “Gagge” over FaceTime when they couldn’t be together.
Ann was the daughter of Crawford B. Haynes and Mary Louise Haynes. She loved Texas and spent most of her life in both Austin and Round Rock. Vacationing on the Texas Gulf Coast was where you could find her many summers.
Creativity runs deep in the family and Ann was an extremely talented floral designer. She also enjoyed other artistic endeavors such as macramé, knitting, and interior design.
Ann was a loving and compassionate soul who cherished the animals she had throughout her life. She found comfort and happiness in the unconditional love they gave. And she returned that love tenfold.
Ann’s family would also like to acknowledge her late husband of more than 20 years, James Fitzgerald, her best friend Brenda Dobrowolski, as well as Brenda B., Rena, and Renata, and daughter-from-another-mother, Ellen Zentner.
Words cannot describe the loss of a mother. Ann was Dionne’s best friend, her confidante, and advisor. She is like the sky, her presence is felt everywhere.
Ann Muncy is now in God’s loving embrace, in eternal peace.
