Mary Virginia McGregor was born January 7, 1929, to Minnie Mae Espinoza & Henry William Perry. She accepted Christ at Sledge Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She remained a member until death under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Arthur McDonald. Her greatest joy was working in the kitchen and fellowshipping with the members. Mary always had a smile on her face and brought joy to all those she encountered.
Mary worked at the Attorney General’s Office under the State of Texas for years. Her love for children led her to become a nannie for many years
Mary was married to George Wesley Smith, Sr., they were blessed with 9 children, 2 preceded in death: Harriet Joan Harrington (Don), (TX), Albert James Smith, II. (TX). Later, she married Bob Chester McGregor, Sr., they were blessed with 2 children, 1 preceded in death, Bob Chester McGregor, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories George Wesley Smith Jr. (Judith), (TX),. Rev. Dr. A.A. McDonald, Sr. (Linda), (TX), First Lady Annie Henrietta Jones (Bishop Johnny Jones), (MO), Lieutenant Colonel Alma Jean Bell (Greg), (TX), Minnie Louise Robinson, (Hubert), CA Mary Elizabeth Burnham, (TX), Jimmie Larry Smith, (TX) James Arthur McGregor, (TX). Mary had the pleasure of knowing and loving up to her 5th generation of grandchildren. She was blessed with nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Until the end James McGregor, as a caregiver provided exceptional loving care to his mom.
