Louis Cardell Hunt, 74, loving father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019. Louis was the first born to Dale and Ora Lee Hunt on July 15, 1944 in Austin, Texas. Louis accepted the Lord into his life at an early age and shared His love with his time on this earth. He married Frances Marie Hunt on August 26, 1972 and resided in Austin, Texas. After having two children, they moved to Crowley, Texas in 1991.
Louis had a proud commitment to his family and was known for his quiet yet strong demeanor, kind heart, caring attitude and his sense of humor identified by his unique laugh and beaming smile. His greatest joys were being with his children and grandchildren, seeing his family succeed in life, and being there to help others.
In Austin, he joined the First Baptist Church and attended L.C. Anderson High School then Huston-Tillotson University where he joined Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and majored in Chemistry. Professionally, he enjoyed an illustrious career at SACHEM, Inc. where he spent over 50 years. During his time at SACHEM, Louis help pioneer many processes, was recognized as an iconic figure and held the position of Vice President of Quality & ChemStewards where he was proud to lead regarding the commitment required for performance excellence. While numerous other achievements were made during his career, Louis, under his own accord, evoked a humble demeanor that would often surprise his colleagues and family. Louis remained active and engaged at Sachem even after his official retirement in 2012.
He was preceded in death by his late wife Frances Marie Hunt, whom he shared marriage with for 40 years and siblings Robert L. Hunt, Larry D. Hunt, Dale Hunt Everett, Roy L. Hunt and Patsy J. Hunt Manor.
Louis is survived by his two children; daughter Lindsey Elaine Hunt and son Kevin Louis Hunt (wife Marcie); grandchildren, Kylee Alexa and Gavin Tyler Hunt; two sisters, Stella Hunt Pullin of Austin, TX and Mattie Hunt Carter of DeSoto, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Louis fought a courageous battle with prostate cancer but the disease never defined him nor did it defeat his dignity. His family is forever in awe of his steadfast support, advice, faith, and most importantly being an excellent person in all ways that truly matter. He is forever loved and dearly missed here on earth, but is now at home with his Lord.
The Hunt family expresses their deepest thanks to Dr. Asad Dean, Dr. Mani Akhtari and their Texas Oncology staff, as well as the Community Hospice of Texas staff for all their compassionate care.
A brief graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
