She was born to Alvin Laake and Olga (Baasen) Laake at her grandmother’s house in Hills, Texas, on February 11, 1938. LeRayne graduated from Giddings High School and went on to receive her Medical Assistant Certification in Austin, Texas.
She was married to Roger Paul Alvin Schultz on August 24, 1957, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas.
She was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church and was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas, at the time of her passing. LeRayne lived her life in service to others and was truly an angel on this earth. She was a selfless, giving person, and made time for everyone who needed her. She was a very crafty person and enjoyed making home décor items.
Her love for her family was seen constantly by her going above and beyond for anyone and making sure the family on her side and Roger's side were always together for weekends, birthdays, and special occasions. Frequently, both sides of the family attended events together, loving every minute of it. She helped arrange for annual family vacations and trips which usually included extended family members and friends. She and Roger traveled a lot with their sisters and brothers-in-law, as well as all their kids and LeRayne's parents. She worked very hard to keep both sides of the family very close and desiring to spend time with each other. With a family as large as our extended family, especially since there were eight cousins on Roger's side and seven cousins on her side, along with their spouses and children as the family grew through the years, that was a major accomplishment which she made seem effortless from a child's point of view. As years went by, the kids grew up in this loving, belonging environment and continue that tradition still today.
She volunteered her time and talents at T.A. Brown and Brentwood Elementary Schools. As a woman of deep faith, she also made sure that homebound church members received communion. LeRayne was always present with her faith and family and made sure that their needs were taken care of before her own. Her love and kind support will be missed by her family and everyone that knew and loved her.
She is pre-deceased by her son, Robert Schultz, and is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Roger Schultz; son Kenneth (Jana) Schultz, daughter Laurie Schultz Reynolds, daughter-in-law Diana Schultz, sisters Geri Warren and Allene Kieff, grandchildren Heather (Micah) Ansohn, Daniel Reynolds and Nova (Brian) Bickers, great-grandchildren Evelyn LeRayne Ansohn, Dylan, Christopher & Breanna Bickers, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 573 N. Main Street (Hwy. 77) in Giddings, with visitation one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
