Lena Rae Jones, 97, born in Austin Texas May 1, 1914, daughter of George Jay and Willie Lou Shelton passed away Sunday 11:30 pm CST. She is survived by her beloved son Richard Jones and dearest friend Clara Angelyn, her niece Patsy Lindley and her husband Bob of Albuquerque NM, and her close personal friend Mary Holder.
Lena was preceded in death by her husband Sam Jones in 1997; her sister Allene “Sis” Shelton; brothers M.G. (Jake), Frank, Bill and Pat Shelton.
Graveside services will be held Friday, 10:30 am at Cook Walden/Capital Parks, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, TX 78660 | 512-251-4118. Pastor Richard Tinsley of Odyssey Health Care will officiate.
Lena is a grand spirit with a strong independent will and is deeply missed. When it came to travel her middle name was ‘Go’ she’d say, and so she has. God bless you Lena on your path and may your journey find comfort, everlasting joy, peace, light and love. Amen.
