Joseph was born on October 22, 1942 in Jefferson County, Texas to late Leon Alger (Jack) Metcalf and Mildred Erzell Fleming.
Joseph lived most of his life in Austin, but the last 22 years he resided in Manor. He was a long time member of Kinney Ave Baptist Church and Manor Baptist Church. Joseph's passion in life included watching the Cowboys and Longhorn football games, car racing and fishing. He worked as a mechanic and car salesman.
Joseph is survived by his wife Carol Metcalf, their children; Chris (Kim) Lamb, Melanie (Earl) Schneider and Justin (Ashley) Metcalf, five grandchildren; Stephen (Sarah) Schneider, Dallas Schneider, Christopher (Delilah) Lamb, Jack Metcalf and Ellie Metcalf, four great-grandchildren; Shelby Schneider, Sophie Schneider, Clay Lamb and Cody Lamb.
The family will welcome friends for a visitation Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m., at Cook-Walden /Capital Parks Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow starting at 1:00p.m., at Cook-Walden /Capital Parks Cemetery.
