Joe M. Garza

He graduated from Lanier High School in San Antonio, Texas and later married Delia Garza on April 26, 1956.

He worked at Steck/Hart Graphics as a camera, stripping, plate maker in the printing process. He’s also been a member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School since 1963.

Joe had a deep passion for dancing, the church, and traveling to several religious churches over the years; he visited The Lady of Guadalupe in San Juan every year. He also enjoyed traveling to Louisiana to participate in The Manresa House of Jesuit Retreat annually, to the Holy Land, and also to Medjugorje several times. In Joe’s lifelong religious journey, he became a Minister of the Eucharist for St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and for the homebound ministries. In addition to his deep love for traveling, he also enjoyed sports and sharing time and making memories with his family.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Maria Deras and Elvira Munoz; and his son, Joe Garza, Jr.

Joe is survived by his wife, Delia Garza; his children, Edward Garza (Jackie) and Rudy Garza (Lisa); his daughter-in-law, Cleofe Stevens; his grandchildren: Lindsey Michelle Fowler, Alyssia Castillo, Shannon Maresh, Mindy L. Thompson, Travis C. Thompson, Brandon Joseph R. Garza, Justin Curtis Hale, Drew James Rangel, John R. Yrle, III, Robert Stevens, Randy Stevens, Michelle Stevens, Samia Jensine Rendon, Marisa Nicole Swann; and great-grandchildren: Liam Matthew Fowler, Sydney Castillo, Sophia Castillo, Gracelyn Castillo, Joshua Castillo, Blake Johnson, Caleb Curtis Hale, Kalvin Mychal Yrle, Jayden Anthony Espinal, Meiah Harper Espinal, Jozlynn Stevens, Lilee Stevens, Noah Stevens, Daniel Joe Stevens, Kayla Moss Stevens, Isabella Stevens, Jensey Calvino, Janna Beth Calvino, Ramsey Calvino, Abigail Jordan Swann, Elijah Thomas Swann, Gabriel Fidel Swann, John Steven Swann, Noah Gideon Swann, and Isaiah Nicholas Swann.

A memorial service honoring Joe will held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2020 in The Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas immediately followed by a catered reception from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
