Joe Davis Jr., beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend left this earth on Thursday, June 23, 2011 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He died peacefully at The Althoff House where he had resided since October 2010.
Joe was born in Austin, Texas on September 17, 1925. He left school at an early age to join the Army. Joe returned from his tour of duty where he met and married the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Louise Hocker .
He was one of 3 children born to Ruth & Joe Davis, Sr. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Louise Davis, his parents, and sister Marie Culver.
He leaves behind a sister, Hazel Brock. Joe will also be forever remembered by his devoted son Joe Wesley & wife Mary, granddaughters DeAnn & Jessica, great-grandsons Collin & Brendon, numerous nieces and nephews, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
Joe loved listening to country music, working in his shop, laughing and being with his family and friends.
Joe touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend the Visitation Service on Saturday, June 25, 2011, 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 10:00am at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home. Interment at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Olivia and Patrick Althoff of The Althoff House, along with Angela, Jessica and the rest of their generous and caring staff who helped our loved one ease into the next phase of his life. We would also like to thank the caring nurses, aides and Chaplain of Odyssey Hospice for the kind and considerate care of our dad and concern for our well being.
