Joe Angel Avila, Jr, 61, beloved son, brother, father, and Grandpa,entered in to eternal peace on Tuesday, July, 6, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family in Austin, Texas. Joe was born May 4, 1960 to Joe A. Avila Sr. and Gloria (Castillo) Avila.
In 1981 Joe began a long and loyal career in the Chevrolet automotive industry working for the Henna family at Henna Chevrolet for almost 40 years. Joe enjoyed the nostalgia of collecting antiques, and the passion for fixing and restoring cars in his spare time. Joe was an avid Houston sports fan of the Oilers,
Rockets and Astros. He had a big heart and was willing to help everyone he met. He was a born and raised in Austin, and loved the history of this city. He spent his later years traveling and made
some beautiful memories with his family.
Joe is survived by his wife of 37 years, Maria Isabelle; son, Joe (Amber) Avila III; daughter, Amanda (Daniel) Allen; daughter, Ariel Avila; and daughter, Mercedes Coy; grandchildren, Alyssa, Joscelyn, Christopher, Sebastian, McKenzee, Bailee, Jordan and Ava; brothers, Jerome (Lisa) Avila and John Paul Avila; sister, Jovita (Art) Salinas; uncle, John Albert Castillo; aunt, Nellie Santana; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for a celebration of life at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills on 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, TX. Funeral service will continue on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 North Interstate 35 in Pflugerville.
Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Gonzales, Rudy Gonzales, Jon Castillo, Jaime Vallejo, Daniel Allen and Joe Avila III.
The family invite you to a wake celebration at Salinas Event Center, 1900 E. Howard Lane.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Louis Henna and the Staff of Henna Chevrolet for their love and support of Joe through the years.
