Jo Spradling, age 94, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014, in Austin, Texas. She was born on October 5, 1920 in Leander and attended Burnet High School. She married James Spradling, Sr. on September 20, 1938, and had three children. She worked for and retired from Austin National Bank where she baked some of the best pastries in town, but she fed her family and friends those treats for most of her life. She was an involved member of the Austin Sons of Hermann Lodge #120 and the Travis County Extension Homemakers for many years. She was an avid gardener, loved to sew and was incredibly talented at pretty much anything she tried. She loved her family more than anything, and everyone who knew her felt the love that she shared.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her children, son James and wife Pat, daughter Louise, son Ernest and wife Loretta, all of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson and another one on the way.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
