Jo-Nell Jenkins Turner, 81, died Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Houston Hospice. Nell was born on April 23, 1937 in Oklahoma City to Joseph and Frances Jenkins. She married William Turner on October 8, 1956. They settled in Huntington Beach, California, before moving permanently to Texas in 1969.
Nell was first and foremost a homemaker who always put her family and friends’ needs before her own and was there for all the good and bad times of their lives. She loved classic movies, music, gardening, and she considered her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to be her greatest legacy. Nell gave of herself generously, selflessly helping others whenever they needed it. She will always be remembered, always missed, and always loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sister Kathleen Trout Settle. She is survived by her son, William H. Turner and his wife Rudene of Cypress; daughters, Melissa Sanchez and husband Michael of Baytown, and Amanda Turner Sneddon and husband Jonathan of Spring. Also surviving her are six grandchildren: Joseph Sanchez and wife Erika, Katherine Sanchez and partner Jason Neal, Michelle Turner, and Brett, Chase, and Macy Sneddon; three great grandchildren: Julianna and C.J. Mitchell and Madeline Sanchez. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law: Jeri Lindell of LaGrange and Sara Whitfield of Georgetown; nephew, Rick Lindell and wife Cheryl of Austin; nieces: Kathleen Raef and husband Charlie of Ozark, Arkansas, Cindy Ramey and husband Bruce of Danville, Arkansas, Cindy Smith and husband Steve of LaGrange, and Beverly Whitfield of Georgetown. Her beloved dog, Sweetie, also survives her.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
