Jean was a pioneer and trendsetter during her career in automotive parts retail sales. In 1973, she was named the first female manager of the automotive department at Montgomery Ward. And although she had a successful and lengthy career in automotive retail, she never drove a car a day in her life. She was devoted to her family and creating a home filled with love for her children. Jean was an excellent cook, and she inspired many members of her family to become excellent cooks as well. She also had a great love for sewing and sports and was an avid outdoorswoman. She hunted, fished, and enjoyed gardening. Jean was an accomplished pianist, and played the piano in her youth for her church. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Worth Davis; and her two brothers, F.M. Slaughter and Marvin Slaughter. Those left behind to cherish her memory include her children, Ronny Munson of Buffalo Gap, Lester Munson, Jr. and wife Sharon of Buffalo Gap, Janis Russell and husband Mark of Georgetown, and Petie Lowrey and husband Brent of Lubbock; eight grandchildren, Katy and husband Rick Johnson, Matt and wife Pam Munson, Mack and wife Amy Russell, Justin and wife Katie Russell, Jenny and husband Chris Rogers, Niki and husband Karl Heimke, Scott and wife Lacy Elliott, and Jenna and husband Kevan Athanasiou; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Jessie Munson.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Jean’s caregivers, Leesa and Norma, whose care and support of Jean meant so much to their family.
