He battled Parkinson's disease for years. And he did it like a champ, never complained or asked why, and never turned bitter towards life. He was a man with a huge heart, always helping who he could. Willy loved animals and his dog Zoey cats Oreo and Tiger. He was a man that only needed very little to be happy.
Willy is survived by Kyong Williamson, his wife of 41 years. His daughters; Kay-C Williamson, Rita Irmgard Hughes, and her husband Charles Hughes; son James Peter Williamson, Jr. and wife Kelly Williamson. Grandchildren; Andrew Hobgood and wife Jessica Hobgood, Brandy Miles and husband John Miles. Great-grandchild; Spencer Hobgood. Best friend Rufus Honeycutt and wife Margaret Honeycutt.
Willy had an extended family that meant so much to him. His nurse assistants who looked after and cared for him for so many years were Argie Bonilla Cervantes, husband Adolpho Cervantes, Beth Simmons, and husband Dustin Goebel, Jason Villanueva, Kira Simmons, and Alejandro Roman Bernal. They took care of him with so much love and respect. They would work holidays and birthdays, missing out on other things to ensure Willy was well taken care of with dignity, love, and compassion.
Willy served the United States Air Force for 28 years, retiring in 1989. He was a very proud veteran, always telling stories from the places where he was in service. He was also a proud member of Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) of Round Rock.
Born in New York City on February 8, 1944, he was the first adopted child of Cornelious Howard and Eva Rita Janetta Williamson. The second adopted child was Phoebe Williamson, who is also deceased. Willy and Phoebe had a great brother and sister relationship.
He graduated from Darian Highschool in 1963.
He had a very happy childhood surrounded by farm animals. He loved his cow with 5, yes, 5 legs and was sad when the other kids would laugh at his cow. He was always willing to help his father with farm work, and when work was done, he could always look forward to the smell of freshly baked banana bread his mom would make for them.
Willy was an amazing man; he will be greatly missed. Always in the hearts of many people that love him unconditionally.
A memorial service for Willy will be held Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
