He is survived by his wife Charlene Garza, daughters Danielle Simmons and Jayme Vela, seven grandchildren, Naomi, Jayden, Jayce and Faith Vela, Lesia, Emma and Micah Simmons, aunts Joy Browning, Mildred Toungate and Nelda Dannheim, brother, Ricky Toungate and niece, Crystal Toungate.
He spent his life in Central Texas and resided in Kyle Texas. As was always the custom in our family, we used nicknames and his was Bubba. He was a master mason by trade and loved to lay rock, brick and make waterfalls. He loved nature and being outdoors. He inherited his grandmothers green thumb so he had a love of plants and growing vegetables in his garden. He was devoted to his pets and left behind his fur babies Trinket and Gidget.
He loved ALL animals and fed and took care of any animal that came close! He would do anything to help anyone out! He loved walking and giving out treats to the neighbors dogs when he would walk his own! For many years he battled his own illness but we were all so proud of his sobriety these last few years! James was a people person, He would talk to anyone and is going to be missed by many! He can rest easy and is now at peace.
A gathering of family and friends for James will be held Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
