James served in the US Army in the Honor Guard Caisson Division from 1956-1958 followed by the Reserves. He was a 55 year member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 286 of Austin, a trade which his three boys followed. He had many hobbies which included horse racing as both an owner and a spectator, hunting, fishing, gardening, dancing, watching any Longhorn sport and hanging out with his high school buddies.
He will be greatly missed by his friends and family that he has left to cherish his memories including his wife of 54 years Eleanor Hamrick; sons Ronald Earl Hamrick and wife Tonna; Scott Edward Hamrick; Gregory Eugene Hamrick and wife Dama; grandchildren Joel Thomas Hamrick and wife Jackie, Rebecca Renee Ratcliff and husband Patrick, Kelsey Paige Hamrick and Karsyn Grace Hamrick; great-grandchildren Zaida Reese Hamrick and Elliott Nell Ratcliff.
James was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Zula Hamrick, his sister Doris Nell Huber and her husband J. Paul Huber.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
