Harold Gene Warren was born in Leesville, Louisiana on July 24, 1949 to his parents John and Myrtle Warren. Harold, a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend transitioned into eternal peace on October 18, 2022. Harold was surrounded by his family at Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock, Texas when he slipped peacefully into his final sleep. Mr. Warren was a cancer warrior, but he succumbed to an unexpected injury on October 17, 2022. He was relentless in his fight, exemplary in his courage, and unwavering in his faith; he never lost his sense of humor, and he taught us all that the power of laughter supersedes the persistence of pain.
Harold graduated in 1967 from Vernon High School in Leesville, Louisiana. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge where he earned his space and place on the university's marching band the "Human Jukebox". Harold was briefly married in 1969. Born from this union was a daughter, Nicole Warren. During this time, determined to hone his musical skills, Harold joined Sonny Boy Holden's Rhythm and Blues Band and entertained fans around the Leesville and Ft Polk area. Harold was a multi-talented musician, he blew his horn, tickled the keyboard, and strummed the strings of his guitar. The band recorded its first and only record, a 45 entitled "Funky Washing Machine." He absolutely loved music!
Shortly afterwards, Harold was drafted into the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Ft. Polk, Louisiana and was ordered to Germany, where unfortunately he became ill and was eventually honorably discharged from his duties. Mr. Warren's recovery was long, extremely difficult and required him to rehabilitate in Denver, Colorado where he met his current wife and the love of his life, Debra Clark Warren. Harold and Debra welcomed a son, Damian Clark-Warren in 1973. Prior to this marriage a son,Jarnie Warren Kruse was born. Harold and Debra married August 22, 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the time of his death, Harold and Debra were blessed with a union that lasted for 47 years. Harold has always been the love of Debra's life and the delight of her soul. With unexplainable tenacity and unyielding care, Debra remained by Harold's side and administered to his needs during a difficult and painful illness. With all lowliness and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love." Ephesians 4:2
Harold attended Metropolitan State College of Denver, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business management and accounting. His career path began as a tax fraud investigative aid. He then became a Special Agent with the criminal investigation division of the Internal Revenue Service. He spent several years in Denver. Special Agent Warren was as dedicated to the countless investigations and high-profile cases as he was to his musical endeavors. In 1992, he transferred to Texas to accept yet another promotion that elevated him to the Chief Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service. This is how he ultimately became a resident of Austin, Texas for many years. He spent 30 years traveling the United States, investigating tax crimes, and providing protection and security for political leaders. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service at the age of 52 with many awards and certificates of recognition. After his retirement however, and when living in Austin, he was selected to work for the Travis Central Appraisal District on the Travis Appraisal review board. Harold was also appointed to serve on the Texas Private Security Board from 2005-2006.
In his new-found free time, Harold enjoyed golfing with friends, creating, studying, and playing music, spending time with family, invoking in depth philosophical conversations about every and anything from metaphysics to the art of self- discipline he enjoyed the debate but he relished "shooting the breeze" and "talking trash" over a hand of Bid Whist every Wednesday with his buddies. He loved sitting on his back patio talking to his brothers for hours and waiting to entertain anyone who dared to pull up a chair and engage in deep conversation as music from one of his two recorded albums, "Qued Up” or "Mental Metaphors" played in the background. There were few things left on his ''bucket list'', most memorable was being honored with a commemorative plaque presented by the city of Leesville. Harold lived life to its fullest - it was an adventure from the earliest years to the very end. Harold loved "family" and tradition. He impressed upon all who would listen the value of consistency, hard work, and being frugal. "Learning the value of a dollar will take you places." He wanted each of his children to be fearless in life, courageous in endeavors, and to "be the purpose you were intended to be."
Harold leaves to cherish his life and his memory, his wife, Debra Clark-Warren of Round Rock, Texas; daughter, Nicole Warren-Noland (Belvis) of Waxahachie, Texas; son, Damian Clark (Christy) of San Antonio, Texas, son, Jaime Warren Kruse (Michelle) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother, Herman Warren (Marlene), sisters Lou Pearl Kennedy, Mickie Seastrunk (Reginald), Eloise Johnson (Wilfred), seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates and dear friends, all who love him and all of whom he loved and treasured. "For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hand. 2 Corinthians 5:1"
