On September 28, 2024 our beloved Geneva “Eva” Martinez of Pflugerville, Texas passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcelino “Chelo” Martinez, as well as her son Michael Martinez and daughters Lupe Medina and Virginia Hernandez. Eva is survived by her children: Pete (Minnie) Martinez, Rose Garza, Angelina Hernandez, Marcilo (Bridgette) Martinez Jr., Sally Martinez, Freddy (Lucy) Martinez, Oscar (Gina) Martinez, and Joe (Jessica) Martinez. Additionally, she leaves behind 34 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward her memory and continue her legacy of family and love.
Eva was born in Weinert, Texas, on January 3, 1938. She met her husband, Chelo, in Haskell, Texas, where they lived until moving to Pflugerville, Texas, in 1968. Pflugerville became their home as they raised their 10 children, creating a loving environment filled with family gatherings and cherished memories. Eva’s life is a testament to enduring love and sacrifice, as she nurtured her family with unwavering devotion, imparting the values that have shaped their lives and bound them together through generations.
Family gatherings were the heart and soul of Eva's world, filling her home with laughter and warmth, a place where joy thrived. With her kitchen always ready to embrace anyone who dropped by, she would cook with a love that wrapped around each dish like a warm hug. Whether sitting at the kitchen table engrossed in a crossword puzzle or enjoying a quiet moment on the front porch with a cigarette, Eva radiated a comforting presence. Her fondness for playing cards brought family together, creating cherished memories filled with friendly competition and laughter. Visitors were never without something sweet, a testament to her nurturing spirit, particularly as a grandmother, where her affection shined the brightest. The playful way she would announce a phone call with a hearty "Booty Call!" added a touch of humor, while her love for music had her dancing joyfully, a reminder of the vibrant life she led filled with love for her grandchildren and family alike.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 5 pm with the Rosary beginning at 7 pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10 am. Both services will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home 14501 N. Interstate 35 Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
