Gail Ann Willis was born to her proud parents, Percy and Mildred Jones on January 24, 1955 in Oakland California. Gail attended Alice Norman Elementary in Broderick, California and graduated from Washington High School Aldo in Broderick, California. After graduating from high school Gail enrolled in Consumers River College of Sacramento, California for one year, then she was accepted to the University of California at Berkeley. She became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc. Rho Chapter in the Spring of 1975. She later had two children, a daughter and a son and she raised her family in Sacramento, California. Gail landed a job with the Mental Health Department for the State of California. She worked and supervised many departments for thirty-eight years, before retiring in December of 2018. Gail devoted her life to her career and her children.
Gail relocated to Round Rock, Texas after retirement to be closer to her family and her ailing mother. She made many friends in Texas as everyone already knew her name. Gail never met a stranger and kept you laughing with each conversation. She had an infectious laugh, you’d be laughing with her as she tries to get her story out completely. She secretly looked out for and cared for so many people. Gail loved her family and she was happy to move closer to everyone.
Preceding her in death was her father, Percy E. Jones, mother, Mildred Sauls, stepfather, Clarence Sauls and brother, Kenneth E. Jones. Leaving with great love and sweet memories, she is survived by her two children, daughter Kimberely K. Willis of Round Rock, Texas and son Larry Smith of Sacramento, California; one sister, Jackie Stewart of Round Rock, Texas; two nephews, Mark Range (Cindy) of Round Rock, Texas and Pherson Jones of Arizona and one niece, Shani Ali of Round Rock, Texas; great nieces and nephews, Shaina, Davis, Kellen, Laurence, Jocelyn, Jakari, Elliott and Jasaun; her best friend and children’s Godmother, Joan Irving Gilbert of Sacramento, California and a host of family and friends.
