His early years of education were at Manor Elementary and Manor Junior High Schools. He graduated from Manor High School. While in school, Louis excelled in basketball, football and track. After graduating from high school he furthered his education at Austin Community College and the University of Texas.
At the age of fourteen, Louis gave his life to Christ and was baptized. He was added to the church as a member of the Church of Christ in Manor, Texas. He later moved his membership to the Wheless Lane Church of Christ in Austin, Texas. In July 2000, through his hard work and dedication to the church, and the members love for him, he was ordained a deacon. Louis remained an active and faithful member until his death.
A shared Icee and skating rink family outing brought Louis into the life of a young lady named Geneva Ray. Their friendship grew into love and they were united in marriage on September 13th, 1986. God blessed this union with four beautiful daughters: Raven Elizabeth, twins Kaylin Mari and Kayrin Mamie, and Geneva Re’Ann.
In 1992, Louis and his brother Ozie Jr. started their own construction business O & L Construction . This family oriented business helped out a lot of people in the community and other areas in and around Austin. The business also brought a close and unbreakable bond between the brothers.
Louis was an upstanding citizen in Manor, Texas. He did volunteer work for the city of Manor and the Manor ISD. H e also coached Select Basketball for the Austin Lady Knights and Austin Elite . He helped in developing their basketball skills which lead to several young ladies receiving basketball scholarships. Off the court, he served as their mentor .
Louis was preceded in death by his parents Mamie Leora Monroe and Ozie Monroe Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Geneva, His Children: Christopher Jerome Monroe, Dominic Louis Monroe, Raven Elizabeth Monroe, Kaylin Mari Monroe, Kayrin Mamie Monroe, and Geneva Re’Ann Monroe. Grandchildren: Leonidis Monroe, Le’Vian Monroe, and Jayden Meredith. His siblings: Claudel Monroe (Sharon) Mansfield, TX, Ozie Monroe Jr. (Mary) of Bastrop, TX, Gail Tanksley (Harold) Elgin TX, Viola Summerlin of Dallas, TX, Mary Ann Bibbs (James) , Randy Monroe (Gwendolyn), Jackie Kirby (Derwood) all of Pflugerville, TX. Marilynn Hall (Alonzo), Tonnie Monroe Herron (Patrick), Byron Monroe (Carey) all of Manor, TX. Robert Monroe (Rachel) of Aubrey TX, Brothers and sisters in law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, the Wheless Lane COC family, and a host of friends and relatives.
