Ernest attended the University of Texas in Austin where he studied mechanical engineering. During his time at UT, he served in the National Guard where he became an expert marksman. Ernest worked at the IRS for 38 years, where he held multiple roles, and retired in 1990. He enjoyed baseball and basketball; however, his first passion was music. From the 1950’s through the early 1980’s Ernest played tenor saxophone with multiple bands, but most of his time was spent performing with the Nash Hernandez Orchestra.
He is survived by his brothers Reuben and Richard Taylor, his wife, Gloria Taylor, and his four children, Edward, Anthony, Barbara and Catherine Taylor. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, November 18, 2019 at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, 3201 Sunrise Road, Round Rock, Texas. Father Don Loftin will be officiating. Interment will follow at Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas where military honors will be afforded.
A Visitation for family and friends will be conducted on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. A Rosary service will be conducted for family and friends at 7:00 pm.
