Ella Mae Amstead

Ella Mae Amstead, 86 of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015. She was born August 16, 1929 in Austin, Texas to Thomas and Beulah Helton as the seventh of eight children. Ella grew up on the family farm on Yeager Ln. in the Dessau community.

She graduated from Manor High School in 1946 at the age of 16. Ella was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Laurence Amstead, Jr. her parents and 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Ella is survived by her son’s Larry (Laura); Mike (Pam); 3 grandchildren, Danica (Glenn), Justin (Chelsea), and Jared (Alyssa), 4 great-grandchildren Kyelee and Bailee Wheat, Xander, and Rhylan Amstead.

Ella was a wonderful Mother and "Nana" and always put her family first. She was a loving caring Christian woman who touched many lives. Ella’s hobbies included sewing, canning, gardening, playing Skip-Bo and Dominos with her grandchildren. Ella enjoyed helping Larry with woodworking projects. "Nana" cooked the best meals which included sweet tea and fresh baked cookies as some of the family's favorites.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 6 pm until 8 pm ; Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 13, 2015 all services will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ella’s name to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund
