Edward was born in the small town of Carrizozo, New Mexico. He was raised in the woods and mountains surrounding his hometown. He spent his early life hunting and in the pursuit of the perfect buck. He joined the Army shortly after graduating high school. In the Army, he turned down the Marksmanship Team to join the Military Police. This duty brought Edward to Austin, TX where he met and married his wife, Gina. He attended technical school and became an automotive technician. For nearly fifty years of his life he dedicated himself to becoming the best in his field - an ASE Master Certified Technician. He never missed a day of work.
Edward is preceded in death by his son Eric Edward Chavez. Edward is survived by his children Gerald A. Chavez of Austin, Justin C. Chavez M.D. of Georgetown, and his grandchildren: Eric, Gina, Davis, Avery, Morgan, Meredith, Azurra, Alessandra and Luciano.
