Mrs. Dorothy Mae Hardeman Edwards of Austin, Texas was born to Andrew Hardeman and Tempie Vickers Hardeman (Haynes) in Taylor, Texas. Two children were born to this union, Emma Hardeman Jackson, who preceded Dorothy in death as the oldest.
At an early age Dorothy professed her faith in Christ and after graduating Blackshear High School in Taylor, Texas she married Eddie Lee Edwards on June 12, 1948 and to this union seven children were born: son Eddie Leon Edwards and wife Cassandra of Austin, Texas , son Donald Ray Edwards and wife Mary of Austin, Texas, daughter Debra Joyce Edwards of Austin Texas, daughter Charlotte Fay Edwards Campbell of Austin, Texas, daughter Lana Gail Edwards Crenshaw and husband Robert of Mesquite, Texas, daughter Jeanette Marie Edwards (infant daughter who preceded her parents in death) and daughter Sharon Jean Edwards of Austin, Texas. She leaves thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Dorothy was extremely family oriented and had a caring soul and demonstrated this through her work as a healthcare provider which she later utilized in the care for her mother and her husband both of whom preceded her in death.
Dorothy stayed active well into her 80’s, she loved spending time with her family, her beloved dog Alexis (aka: Little Girl) who remained a trusted companion to the end, traveling the world, reading, and gardening, Dorothy’s passing marks the last of her generation as the matriarch of the Edwards family.
Dorothy will be profoundly missed by her family and those who knew and loved her.
