Our Beautiful Flower, Our Mom, Dorothy Mae Henry Adams, from Texarkana, Texas, passed away at the age of 81 years old in Austin, TX surrounded by her three (3) children, her four (4) grandchildren, her son-in-law (Bennie), and her grandson’s wife (Elizabeth “Liz”).
Our Mom, Dorothy Mae, was the youngest daughter of Preacher Thomas J. Henry and Mrs. Louise Meadows Henry. Our mom grew up in Mandeville, AR with sixteen (16) brothers and sisters and three (3) adopted siblings. Her father, Preacher Thomas baptized mom in the faith at an early age.
Our Beautiful Flower, Our Mom, Dorothy Mae, enjoyed a full life of adventures by traveling overseas to Kaiserslautern, Germany, where she lived and worked for the government for three (3) years along with two (2) of her children. Our adventurous mother grew up riding horses, riding motorcycles, shooting guns, and helping her family in their cotton fields.
Our Beautiful Flower, Our Mom, Dorothy Mae had a lovely singing voice and loved to sing in the church choir. She loved to attend concerts and sing along to a wide variety of musical genres, such as, Patti LaBelle, Smokey Robinson, Motown Soul, Jazz, and The Blues. Our mom had so much fun traveling to Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Long Beach, CA; and Las Vegas, NV to visit with her family as well as enjoying the cities entertainment. Our mom loved to play games, play bingo, go to casinos, and go shopping. Mama Dorothy had three (3) full closets of clothing, shoes, and handbags. Our mom absolutely adored wearing jewelry and designing her own jewelry for her family and friends.
Our Beautiful Flower, Our Mom, Dorothy Mae, was always giving and loved to meet and talk with anyone. Mom loved to dance, go for long walks, and was always being funny and laughing. Mom loved the colors red and blue, and she loved angels and teddy bears too.
Our Beautiful Flower, Sister Dorothy Mae, will be remembered by her last living Sister, Jewel Patterson of Houston, TX who is 95 years old.
Daughter Dorothy Mae was preceded in death by her Father, Thomas J. (TJ) Henry, and Mother, Louise Meadows Henry.
Sister Dorothy Mae was preceded in death by nine (9) Brothers and five (5) Sisters.
Our Beautiful Flower, Our Mom, Dorothy Mae’s life, and memory will continue to be honored by her three (3) children: Daughter, Mrs. Anita Mitchell (Bennie), Pflugerville, TX. Son, Mr. Ernest Adams, Texarkana, TX. Daughter, Ms. Evelyn Adams, Texarkana, TX.
Grandmother Dorothy’s four (4) grandchildren: Grandson Durell Mitchell (Elizabeth “Liz”), Grandson Deon Mitchell (Alexandria “Alex”), Granddaughter Arneshia Adams (Simon), and Granddaughter Jaleesa Adams.
Grandmother Dorothy’s eight (8) great-grandchildren: BJ, Madison, Kimberlyn, Kallianne, Kylie Beth, DJ, Mila, and another great-grandbaby on the way.
Aunt Dorothy’s extended family in California, Louisiana, Michigan and Texas along with a host of other relatives and friends will keep her life and memory alive as well.
Family Lunch: We will meet at Springhill Restaurant, 2505 W Pecan St., Pflugerville, TX 78660 after mom’s committal service.
A visitation will be held Monday, September 30, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
A funeral service will occur Monday, September 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
A committal service will occur Monday, September 30, 2024, at 12:00 PM, 14501 North Ih-35, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
