The Rev. Don Charles Buck passed away at North Austin Medical Center on Sunday March 27, 2011. Don came into this world on July 22, 1932 in Praire City, Iowa. His parents Charles Max Buck and Phyllis A. White Buck made sure Don was raised in the knowledge and love of the Lord. Don and Charlotte his wife made their home in Round Rock,Tx where they resided at the time of his death. They were both active members of Round Rock Christian Church where Don continued to share his faith in God as he actively participated in many of the ministries of the church.
Don graduated from Osaka American High School in occupied Japan, where he met his high school sweetheart and first wife Alieen Z. Hollon. He played football at Texas Christian University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. He then attended Brite Divinity School in Fort Worth, Tx, and graduated with a Master’s degree in Divinity. Don was a student of life specializing in the studies and teaching of the Word of Jesus Christ. Don’s first calling was the First Christian Church in Azle, Tx. Don’s early ministry included six years as loving Pastor at First Christian Church in Glendale, Arizona. Don and family then relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado to start Garden of Gethsemane Christian Church. After four years Don returned to further his education at Trinity University in San Antonio, Tx for which he received a Master’s Degree in Psychology. While gaining his degree he mentored and was a fill in Pastor at Alamo Heights Christian Church. Following graduation Don became a Rehabilitation Counselor for Texas Rehabilitation Commission in Galveston and Austin, Tx. Prior to retirement, Don and his son Peter established Buck’s Bicycles, with several retail bicycle stores serving the Austin and Round Rock areas.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Alieen Zoe Hollon Buck and is survived by his second wife Charlotte Phillips Buck of Round Rock Tx. Don is also survived by his older sister Juanita Buck Dodgen of Lakeway, Tx., older brother Bill Buck of El Paso Tx., and younger sister Laurel Otnes Wilson of Austin, Tx. Don was blessed with four surviving children by his wife Alieen. They are Peter Harrison Buck, & wife Laura of Round Rock, Tx., Christopher Matthew Buck, & fiancé Kimberly Vicnaire of Bangor, ME., Deanna Angeli (Angel) Buck Foley, & husband Trent of St. Louis, Mo., and Amber Rose Buck Bechtol, & husband Jim of Leander, Tx.
Don is also survived by seven grandchildren Crystal Buck Brown & husband James, Kelli Rae Buck, Daniel Buck, Joshua Buck, Peter Buck, Alan Foley, Alex Foley, and two great grandchildren Judah Buck, and Savannah Brown.
Don had many hobbies, playing cribbage, collecting ducks, watching America’s team, and writing self published short stories. Although, Don would tell you that his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest creations. Don was a loving father, and teacher of the Word of Jesus Christ, who through his ministries brought many to the Lord. Don always lead by example, ministered to thousands and was a mentor to many. Anyone who ever shook Don’s hand knew the stature of the man. He will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched.
