My sincerest heartfelt condolences to the family. I knew Diego to be a warm, sweet, thoughtful young man. I am devastated at hearing this news and my heart breaks for you all. I will be praying for you all and wishing you peace in this difficult time. Your loss is heaven’s gain. 

i first meet diego in 8th grade. we weren’t that close, but we did hang out a few times when it came to our group. he was the most loudest yet funniest guy ever. in the classes i had with him, he always made everyone laugh, even the teachers. he was troublesome, but he had a big heart. i wish i got to know you more, you seemed really cool. rest easy diego, you will be missed.

Pero las fotos de Diego de cuando era chiquito — cuando yo lo conocía en el primero y segundo grado — me hacen sentir como si lo hubiera visto así ayer. Lo quería mucho estos años que estaba en mi clase. Fue muy fácil de querer a Diego. Me acuerdo bien de sus papás, completamente llenos de amor por su hijo. Una familia hermosa. Y esto es lo más importante de todo. Que Diego conocía el amor de su familia. El amor siempre los conectará, uno al otro.

It's his SMILE, it's the  smile that I will never forget it is the light that shine through his eyes every single time we had a conversation mainly when it came from talking about Jiu Jitsu and how he was able to win he was a very easy student to get to know he was a student that checked on me as his teacher he was a student that holds a special and place in my life. My very first-time walking into a school building in Austin TX was at KIPP. the second part of that day was introducing myself to the group of boys that I would then be responsible for in that day he reassured me that he had my back not even knowing me very well but just listening to the words that came out of my mouth He reassured me that no matter what he would take care of me and that he would always come and make sure to check in with me. I miss his check-ins I miss hearing his voice and hearing the stories about jujitsu and how much joy it brought to his heart. thank you for sharing him with us Thank you for allowing us to be a part of all of your lives You will always and forever be family.

Diego era un niño muy inteligente, creativo, y bondadoso. Siempre me hacía reír en clase. Lamento mucho su pérdida, mis condolencias. Les mando un abrazo fuerte.

I am glad I had the pleasure of having Diego in my life, he has taught me to never give up and always give my best no matter what. Diego was a warrior with a noble heart. I will forever treasure the great memories we had together, rest in peace king. Love you little bro. ❤️💯

You were always a happy soul, I was always really hard on you to get you to be be your best, I’m beyond proud to have been your coach. Love you little bro ❤️

I have so many memories of Diego from his freshman year of high school, where he was my student both in English and in Homeroom. He was the most energetic, funny, silly, and warm student with the best heart. I will always remember how much he made me laugh, how naturally intelligent and gifted he was, and the kindness he showed to me and so many others. Here are a few anecdotes about Diego that I would like to share:
-As a student, Diego participated constantly and loved to raise his hand early in the morning in English. Even during lessons when he seemed to pay little attention, he would score 90% or higher on the day’s exit ticket, and I was very blown away by his potential. 
-Once, I tried to start a group chat with my homeroom students so I could send out important reminders, and Diego tried to convince the entire group chat that his phone number was actually Ms. Welin. He was so convincing I actually sent a picture of my driver’s license to prove I was the real Ms. Welin. This is just one example of how goofy and fun-loving he was.
-Finally, I remember one day that Diego seemed incredibly down and when I pulled him into the hall to ask what was wrong, he burst into tears and talked about his grandma being ill. He talked about how worried he was for her, and for his mom, and how much he loved them both. I remember thinking what an enormous heart he had, and reflecting on his maturity at such a young age to be thinking and feeling that deeply for others.

I will never forget Diego and am grateful for the impact he had on me and our community for three short years. With all my love,

Mi cecy hermosa se que no hay palabras que te ayuden a sentirte mejor solo espero que el siga iluminando tu vida y te ayude a tener esa fortaleza para seguir siendo ese pilar en tu hermosa familia lo conozco desde kínder y siempre conocimos ese corazón noble que el tenía aunque su tiempo fue corto nos deja una gran enseñanza a cada uno que lo conocimos siempre vivió al máximo y veia el lado positivo aún recuerdo cuando lo veía en la oficina y me decía “no se por que estoy aquí “te mando un fuerte abrazo 🫂 

The pain that my soul feels cannot be expressed in words, no one is prepared for a moment like this.  Our hearts break in this situation.  and there is no consolation for what we feel today.  Dear friends, only God can give light and understanding even if it seems impossible.  We love you and hug you dear Turcios family.

Diego I am going to miss seeing you on the mats.  You will be missed dearly by your BJJ family. We bled and sweat together a many of nights at the gym.  Sorry I was so hard on you but I wanted to see you give your best. Rest in peace homie...

My sincere condolences to Diego’s entire family and parents during this extremely difficult time. My brothers really loved him and cherished his friendship, and my mother and I are heartbroken for our dear friend Cecy. Rest in peace Diego. 

One of my favorite memories of Diego is when I was randomly walking in Walmart picking up a few things and out of no where someone jumps on my back and begins choking me with a rear naked strangle, I instantly turn around and who do I see?

Diego always had a smile. It's the first thing I noticed about him. I admired how he just enjoyed life and had a positive outlook. He was kind, noble, playful. I have fond memories of Diego; sweet and funny ones. You are loved Diegito, very much mijo. My heart is broken. You are missed! Rest easy.

I’m so very sorry for your loss!!  I loved this kid and anything I would ask him to do, he would do!  I totally enjoyed bring his manager and was so heartbroken at this news!  He will definitely be missed!  Rest in Peace my Diegito!!
