Deborah Jean Davis, known affectionately as Debi, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023, in Round Rock, TX, surrounded by her loving family. She would have celebrated her 70th birthday next month.
Born in Phoenix, Arizona, Debi's early years were marked by the nomadic life of an "Air Force brat," traversing the country until she settled in Riverside, CA, during her teenage years. She was a proud member of the Allen Chapel AME Church in Riverside. She was a debutante in high school, played basketball and was a brilliant student. After high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Eric Sr., and together they welcomed their son, Eric Jr. In 1975, she married Tyrone Beamon, and they welcomed their daughter, Joanna Beamon.
Debi's nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family. She played a maternal role, raising Kordell Beamon & Kasonde Luchembe. She was a second mother to her baby brother Jr, niece and nephew Troy & Terse McPeak, nieces April, Jackie & Yauna Landrum, and many others. Family time was precious to Debi, and she reveled in playing cards, listening to music, and dancing, especially the cha-cha. Renowned as the family's best chef, her love for cooking, hosting, and holiday celebrations, particularly Christmas, brought joy to all. Her infectious smile had the power to brighten the darkest room.
Professionally, Debi devoted a significant part of her career to accounting in the healthcare industry. Later in life, her nurturing nature led her to Texas, where she cared for her elderly parents and cousins. Over her 15-year residency in Waco, she held various jobs, spending the last 7 years with Haggard & Stocking.
Debi is survived by her brother, John Eldridge Smith; sister, Joanna Alexander; and brother, James Smith Jr. She leaves behind her son, Erik Bailey, daughter, Joanna Beamon, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Debi is predeceased by her parents ElJoan, James Smith, and Doris Offord, as well as her sister Dorcus Smith and brothers Darroll & Derrick Smith.
May Debi's soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
A memorial service for Deborah will be held Monday, November 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
