It is with profound sadness that the family of David Ward share news of his passing on to a better place. He left us on Thursday August 29, 2024 at the age of 75 after a long battle with cancer. He passed peacefully in his sleep at home with his wife by his side in the early morning hours.
David was born to LaRue and Myrtle Ward February of 1949. Born and raised in Pflugerville, TX, he was actually born inside the exact same house where he passed. He grew up having six brothers and sisters of which he was second to the youngest. David graduated High school in 1967, then met and married Inez Conklin in 1969. Blessed with 55 years of marriage they were dedicated to loving one another. Together they had two children, Daniel and Renee, and remained in Pflugerville, moving into the family home in 1982.
Drafted into the Army in 1969, David honorably served our country in time of need for 2 years and 8 months, achieving the rank of E5 in that short amount of time. He was a proud veteran who believed in what our country stands for. He raised us to cherish and respect those who serve our country. After the military, David learned the electrical trade. Working all aspects of residential and commercial electricity, he became an expert in his field. In 1989 he began his own business, Ward Electric. He built an impeccable reputation of doing the job right the first time and quality work to last. His son had the privilege of working alongside him and learning the trade for over 10 years. David Ward maintained his business, well known and highly regarded by many until he retired in 2016. Those who knew him well experienced his precise attention to detail and thorough instructions, but also his humor and candor.
He had many hobbies through the years; his love for bass fishing around central Texas was at the top of the list. Another was dove hunting which was a big family tradition for many years. In the earlier years, he played pool, and for many years very few could beat him. He taught his son, daughter, and many of his grandchildren to do all three! Some other pass times he enjoyed were playing poker, horseshoes, washers, and bowling. In the later years, he loved playing with his grandchildren, acting silly with them, and teaching them strong values.
David is survived by his wife Inez of 55 years, his brothers Clifford and Wayne Ward, his sisters Melba Feil, Marlene Maxwell, and Maudine Denton/Cagle, His son Daniel Ward, daughter Renee Jumper, 7 grandchildren: Darian, Dylan, Owen, Grant, Daisy, Reese, and Wyatt, 3 step-grandchildren: Andrew, Jeffrey and Ricardo and three great grandchildren: Mariana, Alessandra, and Dawson! His mother, father, and oldest sister Myra preceded him in death.
