Charles was born in Dalhart, Texas on August 16, 1932, to parents Mary Alice Pinner nee Orr and Oval Pinner. He married Ruby Mae Penny, the love of his life, in Austin on October 16, 1962, and they were married for 45 years until her passing in 2008.
Charles is survived by daughters Mary Alice McCarty of Austin, TX, Treasa Lynn Wheeler of Orono, ME, grandchildren Ryan Michael Pinner of Austin, TX, Lauren Bronwyn Wheeler of Albuquerque, NM, Shelby Lynn Wheeler of Loxahatchee, FL, Mickala Caitlyn Wheeler of Orono, ME, and great-granddaughter Hadyn Espinosa Pinner of Austin, TX. He is also survived by his brother Richard “Dick” Lee Pinner and sister Marilyn Louise Pinner Hogg.
Charles, (“Chuck” to his friends and “Chuckles” to those standing far enough away) served in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s. Afterward, he managed Pinner Construction with his brother, Robert “Bobby” Pinner, for many years. He was a Master Carpenter, and over the years, he used his skills to help many family and friends. He also enjoyed teaching those skills to his family because he always needed hard-working helpers.
Charles always enjoyed a friendly game of cribbage, dominoes or liars’ poker. In the summers, he would head north to the family farm in Colorado to fish.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Pinner; his parents, Mary Alice and Oval Pinner; his son, Jacob Oscar Pinner; and his siblings, Pat Gustin, Joyce McCarty, Billy Smith, Clarence Pinner, Robert Pinner, and Karl “Bunny” Pinner.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2020, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at Anderson Terrace, 11505 Anderson Mill Road. Reverend Stephen Gayle will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Charles’ life.
