Cecil proudly served in the US Army from 1953 to 1956. He worked for the City of Kalamazoo, Michigan as a Diesel Mechanic, and Forestry Dept., All that time also playing in his own band called Jr. & the Tensions as Lead singer and Guitarist, He worked for his Father in Law Norberto Villarreal as a supervisor in landscaping, He was the Owner of Johnson Automotive until he retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clara Cecil Johnson and Sara Jane Johnson; his wife Soledad (Shirley) Johnson and children Debra Ann Johnson and Brenda “Tinker” Starling; and his son, Alan Johnson; his brother Carol Johnson (Polly), and sister Clara Jane Zamora (John).
Left behind to cherish his memory include his children, Cecil Johnson, III (Bonnie) and Michele Renee Trevino (David); brothers, Marion Johnson (Gail), James “Cold” Johnson (Debbie); sisters, Annie Scheffers (Lee), Sara Nelson (Jerry); grandchildren, Jamie Gomez (Edward), Keith Johnson (Jo Marie), Jason Johnson (Nicole), Dustin Johnson (Krista), Randy Johnson, Lori Herron (Phillip), Cindy Herron, Jeff Herron (Shevon), Micky Herron, Jennifer Starling, Henry Starling, Jr. (Amy), David Johnson (Melinda), and Frank Johnson; numerous great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren, and great, great, great grandchildren as well as many, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Brothers and sisters in law, Ramon Villarreal (Lupe), Louis Villarreal (Lilia), Juan (Gorie) Villarreal (Helen), Olivia Barba (David), Terry Villarreal; and Godchildren, Melissa Soledad Domenech (Nicholas), Tina Marie Manchaca.
