Bradney James Henson, age 54, was born on April 22, 1969, in Austin, Texas to Wayne and Audrey Henson. Brad was a veteran of the Army and resided in Leander, Texas when he passed. After being diagnosed with brain cancer in March, Brad passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at home from his gradual decline in health from Glioblastoma.
Brad graduated from Travis High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1987. After the Army, Brad met his wife Shawn-Marie, and got married on August 28th, 1998. In the 24 years that they were married, Brad and Shawn-Marie had two children, Lauren and Tanner Henson. Brad was employed with Black Box for 10 years and worked part-time with The Home Depot for 8 years. Brad had a passion for the UT Longhorns that was rare to come by. He also had a dedicated soul for cooking BBQ anytime he could. Over the years, Brad & his wife took part in many BBQ competitions, and after finding success in the competitions, they were able to turn a passion into a BBQ catering business. Brad was always known for his hard work ethic and great sense of humor. Brad approached life with joyfulness, ease, and humor. He loved spending time with his family, being on the beach, working in the yard, and listening to rock and roll music.
Brad is survived by his parents, Wayne and Audrey Henson, wife Shawn-Marie Henson, children Lauren and Tanner Henson, brothers Bennie Henson, Brian Henson, Blake Henson, numerous nieces and nephews, and his long-time dog companion Louie. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Rusty and Barney Bradney and Dudley and Ivy Henson. Brad was one of the most generous, kindest, and loving friend, father, and husband you could ask for.
A visitation for Brad will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Burial Service (date pending) at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery where Brad will be honored for his service in the Army.
Burial service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023 at 2:15 P.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery - Shelter #2, 1520 Harry Wurzbach RD, San Antonio, TX 78209. Brad will receive military honors for his service in the Army.
