Betty was born in Waco in 1935, graduated from Waco High School and married James Hardy (Jim) Barry in 1953. Betty and Jim moved to Austin in 1963. Betty worked for the Austin ISD as an administrative secretary and later was self-employed with her husband selling handcrafted items at arts and craft shows across the U.S, until they retired in 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Shirley Pauling and her grandmother Ida Cox, who lovingly raised Betty after the accidental death of her parents in 1937.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years Jim Barry, daughter Denise Barry, son and son-in-law, James Barry Jr and Steven Leigh, grandson Michael Colley and wife Shannon and great-grandsons Garrett and Ashton, granddaughter Cayce Pierce and husband Derek and great-grandsons Daniel and Christian.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 2pm, with visitation at 1pm.
