Mr. Barry Kleiman, 87, of Copperas Cove, Texas, passed away on September 14, 2023. Barry was born on June 7, 1936, in Newark, New Jersey to Aaron Harry Kleiman and Frances Lynn Kleiman. Barry was raised and educated in Newark until September 1953 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army.
Barry's military career was split between serving in the US Military Food Services and the US Military Intelligence branch. He was trained and worked in two foreign languages and prisoner of war interrogation operations. Barry was stationed at Food Hood (Cavazos), Texas for four tours of duty. He served overseas four times in South Korea and twice in Vietnam. Throughout his extensive career, Barry received two Bronze Stars for meritorious service, an Army Commendation medal, four Good Conduct medals, and many other unit and service ribbons. Barry retired from active-duty military service in September 1974. After retirement, Barry was employed in the insurance business, the US Postal Service, and eventually opened his own small business in Killeen, Texas.
Barry is predeceased by his wife, Song Tae He, his brother Sandy Kleiman, and his parents Aaron and Frances Kleiman.
Barry is survived by his son Bart (and wife Kelly) of Pflugerville, Texas, and his daughter Judi (Payne) of Copperas Cove, Texas; two grandchildren, Kylie Payne of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Tanner Payne (and his wife Alexandra) of Copperas Cove, Texas; great grandson Easton Payne of Copperas Cove, Texas; his brother, Michael Kleiman (and wife Lydia) and nephew Michael Kleiman of Aiken, South Carolina.
At Barry's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. The family will gather privately to honor his life.
