

Barbara graduated from Palestine High School. After graduation, she married the love of her life, James (“Bobby”) Robert Johnson, and settled in Austin. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in August of 2023.
After being a stay-at-home mom, Barbara worked at IBM for 15 years before she retired. She was a member of First Baptist Church Pflugerville, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and worked with the youth group. She enjoyed growing roses, gardening, loving dearly on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her earlier years, she enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, and bowling. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her family.
She was predeceased by her father: Raymond Starr, mother: Mildred Starr, brothers: Curtis Starr, Milton (“Mutt”) Starr, and RL Starr, son: James Rodney Johnson, and granddaughter: Courtney Nicole Wisehart.
She was survived by her husband: James (“Bobby”) Robert Johnson, two daughters: Belinda Dickey, husband Terry, and Cheryl Wisehart, husband Brian, daughter-in-law: Irma Johnson, eight grandchildren: Amy Tallas, husband Chad, Johnathan Johnson, Brooke Wuensche, husband Andy, Justin Johnson, Brittney Golden, husband James, Kevin Dickey, wife Allison, Alan Dickey, wife Niki, and Kaitlyn Hankins, husband Jonathan, and two brothers: Archie Starr and Lloyd Starr, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held May 23, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas. A celebration of life will be held on May 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, followed by burial at Cook Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
