Barbara Lee Carpenter passed away peacefully on August 23, 2021. She was born in Galveston, TX on December 1, 1939. Raised in Houston, TX by her parents Dorothy and Walter Hildebrandt. She met the love of her life, Guy Carpenter while both were working at Foley’s department store in Houston. They married in 1958 and celebrated over 52 years of marriage at the time of Guy’s passing in 2010. Barbara was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Round Rock, TX for over 35 years. Barbara worked for the Round Rock ISD in their Special Education offices and retired after more than 20 years of service there. Barbara loved spending time with her grandkids, traveling, tending her yard and garden and watching Wheel of Fortune.
She was a beautiful and strong woman and she fought with grace until the very end. She was a model of Christ and pure love to us. She was full of mercy, grace, kindness, generosity and humility. She was a servant, a teacher and, a prayer warrior. She loved God and hid His Word in her heart and lived it out in her life.
She is survived by her daughter Mindy Brown (spouse Tom), granddaughter Lindsay Sweeney (spouse Paul) and great granddaughter Rosemary Grace, grandson Taylor Brown; daughter Kelly Sheffield (spouse Dave), grandsons Aaron and Caleb Sheffield and granddaughter Leah Sheffield, all of Austin, TX and son Daren Carpenter of Georgetown, TX. Brothers Richard Hildebrandt (spouse Delayne) and Bobby Hildebrandt (spouse Wendy) of Houston, TX.
A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held on September 14, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with a catered reception following at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home.
