Carolina. She was the youngest of 13 children. She fell asleep in death on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at
the age of 95.
Barbara's faith and relationship with God were most important to her. Growing up in a religious household, her interest in spiritual matters began as a child. When she began studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses alongside her sisters, Barbara fell in love with what she was learning. She dedicated her life to
Jehovah God and symbolized it through baptism on January 25, 1942. At 9 months old, Barbara's family moved to New York City, NY, where she spent most of her life. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1945. Two years later, she married Theodore "Ted" Phillip Bristol Jr. on June 28th, 1947. They shared 34
years of marriage. until he died suddenly on November 9, 1981. Together they raised 2 sons: Theodore "Teddy" Phillip III and Paul Ellis. After Ted's passing, she moved to Austin, Texas where she spent the remainder of her life. From then on, Barbara strived to instill what she was learning in her two sons and encouraged them to live by Bible principles and develop their own relationship with God. Barbara is most known for her role in the telephone ministry work, which she did diligently for nearly 25 years. Her enthusiasm and dedication inspired many in the congregation. By the end of her life, Barbara had dedicated 81 years to her ministry work and helping others. Even towards the end of her life, she made an effort to make every meeting and assembly.
Aside from her ministry work, Barbara loved to spend time with her family. She had many nieces and nephews and cherished them dearly. Barbara looked forward to visiting New York to see her son,
daughter-in-law, and granddaughters. She also loved going on annual family vacations to Florida. In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed playing the piano. She passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren. Barbara liked to sew, knit, and crochet. She also loved to read and keep up to date on theocratic literature. In addition, Barbara was an avid traveler and visited places such as Guatemala and Kenya!
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Theodore; parents Ellis and Eloise Chamblee; older siblings Lois, Lee Roy, Lee Rogers, Louise, Henry, Wilton, Mosella, Marion, John, Ruby, Harold, and Hellen; and granddaughter Nicole Bristol. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons; Theodore Phillip Bristol III (Stefanie) and Paul Ellis Bristol (Dianne); and four granddaughters: Rachel A. Bristol, Jennifer E. Bristol, Elissa M. Steer (Edwin), and Aleah R. Bristol.
