Avelino Segovia Reyes passed away on June 4th, 2024, at the age of 73. He was a strong, funny, annoyingly stubborn man who cared deeply for his family, even if he didn't always enjoy all the noise they made.
Soon after high school, he and Maria Villanueva were blessed with their first child, Tommy Reyes. A few years later, they were gifted with their second child, Naomi Macias. And just in time for the 90s, they were stuck with their third child, AJ Reyes.
After going to trade school for meat cutting, he worked in that business for nearly 20 years before moving into carpet and upholstery cleaning. After several years with a local company, he started his own business, which he successfully ran as a one-man operation for over 30 years.
Avelino was a loving, hard-working, independent man who was happiest when he was fishing, sitting outside, or turning up the volume on the TV while his great-grandkids scream-laughed in the other room.
He is survived by his children and their mother, Tommy, Naomi and her husband Jason, AJ, and Maria; his siblings, Antonio Reyes Jr. and his wife Sylvia, Mary Alice Reyes, Emily Salazar and her husband Raymond, Aurora Holman and her husband Randy, Sophie Gutierrez and her husband Ruben, and Marty Reyes and his wife Tracy; his seven grandchildren, his 12 great-grandchildren, and all of his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Reyes Sr. and Petra Segovia Reyes, and his brothers Santos Reyes, Guadalupe Reyes, and Johnny Reyes.
A memorial service for Avelino will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
