Antonio Ochotorena Chavez, a.k.a. El Cuervo, passed away at his home in Austin, Texas on November 20, 2022 from natural causes. He was surrounded by the love and support of his family as he completed his time on this earth. He was 82 years old.
Tony was born in Big Spring, Texas on December 4th, 1939. He was raised on the North Side by a large family, friends and vibrant community. Tony worked at Malone and Hogan Hospital for many years before moving to Austin, Texas in 1989. He worked for Moritz Properties in Austin until his retirement in 2019. He was a maintenance man, mechanic, and a jack of all trades.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Arcenio Chavez Jr., his mother, Elvira Ochotorena Chavez, a son, Michael Ramirez Chavez, and his father, Arcenio Chavez Sr. He is survived by his wife, Selia Ramirez Puga, six children, Cathy Chavez, Tony Chavez (Cheyenne), Danny Chavez, Grace Duncan (Todd), Garry Chavez, and Paul Chavez, two step daughters, Cathy Puga Mugica (David) and Connie Ramirez Carrasco (Pedro Jr.), two sisters, Grace Martinez (Frank) and Chinda Subia, two brothers, Chris Chavez (Donna) and Orlando Chavez (Irma), and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone for all the visits and phone calls, and a big thanks to the Comforts of Home hospice staff for the excellent care and support.
A visitation for Antonio will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022, 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. A committal service will follow the service at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery, 13700 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660.
