Allen grew up in Lubbock, TX where he graduated from Lubbock High school in 1965. He and the family moved to Austin, TX shortly after his graduation. Allen joined the US Army in 1969 and was sent to Vietnam in 1970 and was awarded the Bronze Star medal for meritorious service in combat. Allen was also awarded the Air Service metal for meritorious service while in flight operations. After his service Allen returned to Austin where he worked for the University of Texas as a cook and building attendant. Allen retired from UT in 2009. Allen also worked for Tips Iron & Steel for 14 years. In 1985 Allen moved to Buda, Tx to get away from big city life, he loved being out in the country and living on his 10 acres of land where he could raise chicken’s and have a small garden of his own. Allen was known for his kindness, gentleness and love for family, animals and for people in general. Allen love going fishing with his family and was at most a peace sitting on a boat on the Guadalupe River. Allen lived a simple and humble life and believed in the traditional life where a simple and handshake and your word was more valuable than any legal written contract.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, father Hilaire Allen Coach, mother Dialtha Coach (Stroud), his sister, Barbara Jean Hartman (Coach), and nephew, Kenneth Wayne Coach.
Allen is survived by his nephew, Richard Walton, wife Dianne Walton and great-nephews, Ezra Walton and Jason Coach, great-niece, Stormie Coach and brother-in-law, Michael Hartman and many other great nieces and nephews and cousins.
We want to give our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses and staff at Legend Oaks Rehabilitation and Health Care of Kyle for taking great care of Allen the last couple years of his life.
A visitation for Allen will be held Friday, May 3, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
