Alex Salinas, 87, of Austin, TX passed into Heaven on October 22, 2020. He was born in Seguin, TX on October 31, 1932. He was a fun-loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone that crossed his path.
After graduating from Seguin High School, Alex wanted to see the world, so he joined the United States Air Force as a Communication Specialist. For the next 20 years, Alex was stationed in numerous bases in the USA and Europe. As part of his military commitment, he was also assigned without family in Thailand during the Vietnam War and Goose Bay, Labrador.
In the mid 1950’s working in the UK, Alex met the love of his life, Barbara. She was one of four sisters, who opened a whole new world of British life for the young man from Texas. After military retirement, Alex was hired by the US Post Office for another successful 20-year career.
Alex balanced family, church, work, and friends with his favorite activities including sports, music and dining out. In the UK, he loved to watch horse racing and socializing at the neighborhood pub. His favorite pastime was golf and was very competitive on the course. In his later years, Alex became more of a spectator of sports, especially supporting his UT Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys. Alex was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW.
Alex is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara, his brother, Ricardo, numerous Salinas half-brothers/sisters and spouses, his son Michael and wife Susan, his daughter, Ashley, grandsons, Zach and Stephen with his wife, Morgan and many other relatives around the world.
