WHITFIELD, William George “Bill” – Member of Selwyn Outreach Centre. Retired from General Motors. Former employee of Westclox (21 years). Dedicated and valued community volunteer. – Peacefully, with his family at his side, after a lengthy & courageous battle with cancer, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Saturday, March 27, 2010, in his 68th year. Bill, beloved husband of June (nee Blair) for 36 years. Loving father of Troy (wife Francesca Massi) and Tracy (partner Kate Wren). Proud “Grampa Bill” of Luca. Bill will be remembered by his sister Carolyn Wilson (late husband Kelly) and her family, sister-in-law Kim Blair (partner Ferd Sobernig), and many other relatives and friends. Visiting will be held at the SELWYN OUTREACH CENTRE (2686 Lakefield Rd.) on Wednesday, March 31, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at SELWYN OUTREACH CENTRE, on Thursday, April 1, at 11 am. Reverend Brian Mahood officiating. Interment at Little Lake Cemetery to follow. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
