W. Keith Borland
January 31, 1930 - January 3, 2023
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our dear father, Keith Borland on January 3, 2023 at the of age 92. Passing at Extendicare Lakefield, Keith was the beloved husband (65 years) of the late Deneyse (2018), loving father of Lysa, Richard (Lisa), Stephen (Louise), and Karen (Cosimo). Adoring grandfather of Kyle, Grant, and Rowan. Fondly remembered by his brother Wellington “Wimpy” Borland and his late wife Margaret, their son David (Donna), daughter Lynn and their families. Predeceased by his sisters Margaret Manley and Thelma Greenlaw.
Born in Warsaw, Keith lived most of his life in Peterborough, initially working as an accountant at Outboard Marine before becoming instrumental in the establishment of the retraining division for Sir Sandford Fleming College in Peterborough. When the program was eliminated, he joined Fleming College’s Brealey Campus teaching numerous students accounting before retiring after 25 plus years.
Keith was an avid, enthusiastic photographer who loved to share his pictures with all. In retirement, Keith, along with our mum Deneyse, operated a home-based stained-glass business. He was well known as an expert within the stained-glass community, teaching courses from his studio and Fleming College, creating and refurbishing stained glass windows, making lamps, jewelry, and other unique pieces. Examples of his beautiful stained-glass windows can be seen at the Peterborough Chamber of Commerce and Westdale United Church.
Keith enjoyed travelling well into his eighties. He was a talented, artistic, hobbyist who loved nature, gardening, and his beloved dogs.
Visitation and Service will be at Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre at 356 Rubidge St, Peterborough. Visitation will be Thursday, January 12th from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. The service will be held on Friday, January 13th at 2:00 PM.
Special thanks to the staff at Extendicare Lakefield, who provided such a loving, caring environment for Keith during the past five years.
If so desired, in memory of Keith, donations to LAWS (Lakefield Animal Welfare Society), Alzheimer’s Society of Muskoka, or the Brock Mission would be appreciated by the family.
Kind, generous, and loving, Keith will be sorely missed.
