Passed away suddenly, with family at his side on Monday, April 29th, 2019 at home in his 96th year. Beloved husband of Jeanette Brenner (nee-deGroot) for 67 years. Proud dad of Ingrid Brenner (Anthony Petrasek). Deeply admired and respected grandpa of Katherine Petrasek. Predeceased by his cousin Hans Weber. Brother in-law to Ann and Tony Post (predeceased), Margaret and Robert Shaw (predeceased), Pam and Jack deGroot, Deta and Lorrie Lancaster. Otto came to Canada from Holland as an immigrant with his future wife’s family to seek a better life. As a chemist by trade, with a specialization in electroplating of printed-circuit boards, Otto initially settled in Bobcaygeon, Ontario. He then moved on to Peterborough, Ontario; Toronto, Ontario; Hamden, Connecticut; Clarendon Hills, Illinois and back to Toronto and then Peterborough. He spent the majority of his professional career working for Enthone Incorporated, a subsidiary of ASARCO in the US. Otto loved to listening to classical music, learning about history, photography and barbequing as past-time activities. The family would like to thank the paramedics and firefighters of the Peterborough Emergency Management Services (EMS) and Sergeant Jeff Chartier and colleagues of the Peterborough Police for their care and support at the time of Otto’s passing. Otto will be sadly missed by his immediate family and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 9th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the COMSTOCK-KAYE LIFE CELEBRATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street.
