It is with deep sorrow we announce Nicole's passing on March 27, 2023 in her 43rd year with family by her side. She will be deeply missed by her parents Christine and Mike Fortin, brother Marc (Ceilidh), niece Noa, aunts and uncles Beverly and Christopher Offierski, Dan and Jeri Fortin, Diane Fortin and Daniel Parenteau and many cousins.
She is predeceased by her grandparents Gertrude and Maxwell Comstock, Claire and Aime Fortin and her aunt Lynn Comstock/Wagner.
Nicole was born in Peterborough on May 8, 1980. Her family moved to Lindsay were she graduated from Lindsay Collegiate and went on to get an Outdoor Recreation degree from Lakehead University and a Teaching degree from Trent University.
At the age of 8, Nicole attended Camp Kawartha (her Grampa Comstock’s pride and joy); her first of many summers as a camper, moving upward as a counselor and on to LIT Director, where she was forming the next generation of counselors. She continued to support the camp every year. She loved the outdoors. Whether it was paddling her canoe to that favourite camping spot, hiking the mountains in Banff National Park or downhill skiing.
Nicole loved her teaching position at St Anne's Elementary School in Peterborough; Grade 6 French Immersion. She cherished the lasting friendships made there and was so proud of all the students that passed through her classroom.
Friends will be received at Comstock- Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough Friday March 31 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St Anne's Church, 859 Barnardo Ave Peterborough on Saturday April 1 at 1:00 p.m.
