I watched a movie I’d never seen before today and I wonder if you ever watched it. I wish I could ask. You are my favourite teacher and we miss you always.

In the fall of 2023, I had the distinct privilege of being Mr. Robinson’s student teacher. From the very beginning, it was clear that Kevin was not just a phenomenal teacher but also someone who set the bar incredibly high—a standard that both inspired and challenged me. At times, I was admittedly intimidated by his expertise, but he consistently encouraged me to break out of my shell and offered invaluable advice that I will carry with me throughout my teaching career.

What stood out the most about Kevin was his ability to create meaningful bonds with his students. He had a unique talent for making complex subjects like film and literature not only accessible but also deeply engaging for high school students. His teaching went far beyond the typical high school level, yet he always ensured that every student could grasp the material.

I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to have learned from him, and I can say without hesitation that he sparked in me a lasting passion for film, literature, and education. 

My thoughts and deepest condolences are with your family during this difficult time.

As a former student of his, Mr.Robinson was a true role model in my life.  I am so glad to have gotten the opportunity to share the time that I did with him throughout my time as a student at Adam Scott, having gotten the opportunity to be taught by him 3 times. I am so very grateful to have had him to impart some of his wisdom and knowledge on to me and truly making me not only a far better student, but person as a whole through his emphasis on social issues in his courses. He made me feel he always provided a safe space,  normalizing issues surrounding mental health which allowed me to feel understood. All whilst still managing to provide a humorous and engaging experience. I am glad to say that he has undoubtedly made a striking impact on who I am and assuredly who I hope to become.  I don't believe that I could ever express the full extent of said impact and so, I will leave it at this; he was truly an incredible man who has undeniably touched the lives of a myriad of people who will  profoundly miss him including myself.

Kevin Robinson. I am so sorry to hear of his passing.  As a former English teacher and current colleague at Adam Scott, I have many years of working with him. It’s hard to believe he is gone. My condolences to the family. 
A few memories over the years:

In 1999, my department head, Timothy Westhead, a friend of Kevin’s, gave me some of his lessons to use, I was still teaching in Scarborough. His talent as a teacher was wide reaching that long ago. Years later I was lucky enough to work with him. 

We art teachers shared many students who also enjoyed his English and Film classes. Through conversation, I saw firsthand the impact he had on his students.  So many opted to pursue film or literature. He brought university into the high school classroom. 

The young arts teachers roped Kevin into dressing as a crayon on year, and a pac man character the other year, as a part of our group costume. It was considered a coup to convince him to join the’fun’ and he did gladly.

I have to admit what he did for teens who struggled with English, how hard he worked for them and how far he got, was amazing too, and what I admired most when working with him. 

My daughters remember his kindness. He helped my older daughter Caroline when she was being bullied by connecting her with grade 12s who might help her. Instantly the moment he heard he made sure we could resolve the issue. Those students became buddies on the bus. He loaned my other daughter books when she didn’t have enough to read, for years. 

Through it all there’s many more meaningful times, most of all how often he talked about his sons, and how much he loved them and the rest of his family. 

Much sympathy to his family. 

He will be missed.

I cannot even put into words the way I have been feeling this past week. Mr. Robinson was genuinely one of those teachers you never forget and has an impact on the rest of your life. And that’s incredibly rare. His humour, incredible teaching, kindness, and compassion will be something I cherish forever. I feel so lucky to have been a part Mr. Robinsons classroom for three years, let alone to have known him. He was there for his students not only academically, but he really was there when you were down and needed a pick me up. And he knew. I will never forget thinking I was disguising how I was feeling and Mr. Robinson seeing right through that and pulling me in the hall to make sure I was okay. This is a huge loss for this community, one that is not replaceable. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He was such an amazing person and a light to this world. Forever watching “She’s the Man” as “Twelfth Night”.

Both my daughters had Mr. Robinson as a teacher.  I can easily say he was their favourite.  I heard so much about K-Rob at home, and after meeting him at parent-teacher nights, I saw instantly why they liked him so much.  Not only was he an inspiring, phenomenal teacher, he also made them feel that they had a safe place in his classroom and that they had his support.  As a student, you encounter many teachers along your learning journey.  Some stay with you, some don't, and very few take such an influential spot as Mr. Robinson did.  My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and students on this devastating loss.

I was devastated to hear about the loss of Mr. Robinson.  He was such an amazing person, known for his smarts, witty nature, kindness, generosity, and easy ability to crack a smile on anyone’s face . Krob touched so many lives in profound ways, including mine, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him

My heart goes out to his family and friends in this incredibly difficult time. I will always remembering Krob with fondness and gratitude for the joy he brought into all our lives. He was one of my biggest supporters, a person I could always be funny with and have a laugh but also someone who I knew always had my back and had my best interest at heart and would do anything he could do to help me succeed. I look up to his teaching style with the utmost respect and gratitude and I am so lucky that I got to learn so many things from him that I will forever carry with me and I hope to bring his wisdom, knowledge and passion for teaching with me into my own classroom someday.

I am completely saddened to hear about Kevin’s passing. I was fortunate to have him as a teacher when I went to Adam Scott and he was always there smiling. He was by far one of my favourite teachers. Sending prayers to Kevin’s family and friends through this tough time. Fly high Kev Kev. You will be missed by so many. Thank-you for being such an amazing soul.

He made it a goal to make me smile everyday, and everyday he succeeded. He is the funniest person I have ever met. He made learning fun. I have never done well in school, I simply just didn’t enjoy it, his class was the first time I have ever found myself excited to be in a classroom. 

His love and knowledge for movies was incredibly inspiring. His empathy and ways in which he talked about his family showed how much he truly cared. 

One of my favourite things about him was the way he brought laughter to a class, his capability to bring shy students out of their shells, and his ability to make such a welcoming presence in a classroom. 

It’s so extremely heartbreaking that students won’t be able to make new inside jokes with him. I will forever be grateful that I was able to be apart of many inside jokes. “Spot get in here before he sh*ts on you!” Will forever be my favourite ;). 

My heart goes out to his friends and family. He was an extraordinary person who brought light and joy wherever he went. 

You will forever be missed Krob, I’ll keep trying to figure out how we can eliminate all the air in chip bags for you ;)

Kevin was the most supportive and caring teacher I had at Adam Scott. I will never forget many of the things he taught me. Not just the subject matter but he taught me how to think critically and many skills that I still use to this day. No matter how much I dreaded going to school everyday, I always looked forward to his classes. I think of Kevin every time I watch a movie and try to see it through his perspective. Kevin inspired me everyday and will continue to inspire me for many years to come.

Mr. Robinson was an amazing man, father, and teacher. He was always a great face to see around the halls, and even if he didn’t know you, he was the kind of person to act as if he’s known you for years. My older sister took his course multiple times while she was in high-school, and every night at dinner I would hear about a mysterious Mr. Robinsons films class, and how much she loved it and how much she learned.  All of high-school I was extremely excited to take his films course in 12th grade. I will never forget Mr. Robinson, and I wish I was able to take his course this year. My condolences to all students, family, and others close to Kevin. He was an amazing man. Rest in piece.

Sad news to hear of Kevin's untimely passing.. What a great teacher who inspired his students in so many creative ways. Beginning his teaching career at TASSS, Kevin exemplified all of the skills needed to be successful with his students. Thoughtful, caring, positive and always a step ahead with innovative lessons in History and English.  Highly recommended by the faculty at Trent . A gifted teacher and wonderful person. Condolences to Lesley, and families.

Not only was he an extraordinary teacher that I had the privilege of being taught by three different times, he undoubtedly helped get me to the place I am in now, both academically and as person. I was so proud when he told me my grade 12 english personal essay moved him to tears, and when he noted on the page; “you, Marlowe, can write.” As high as he set the bar for all of his students, it only made me want to live up to his expectations more, let alone surpass them. He really was the only teacher who I’d be happy with calling on me during a lesson, simply because he knew that I was capable of giving a good answer. He made everyone feel appreciated not only as a collective but as individuals, and my Prince of Wales friend group knew he had a sweet spot for those of us taught by Mme. Corp. I will never forget his welcoming “hey Mar!” as I entered his classroom or passed him in the hall, which undeniably has been replaying in my head over the past couple of weeks. Or the horrendous french accent he would put on to make us all laugh after Mme. Walden came in briefly to speak to him. Deeply wishing I had thought to reach out before waiting to visit him at Adam Scott this year. So many memories from his classes including virtual grade 10 english which despite the circumstances, made me genuinely look forward to having him in person for grade 12. Film studies was never something I thought I would take interest in but I am so incredibly grateful that I chose to take it, as Krob’s passion alongside his knowledge taught me SO much. I can’t watch a movie without pointing out the tropes and fallacies to my friends or even noting them to myself- it’s a blessing and a curse. There are so many things I wish I could have done or said before I knew how limited time would be, but I am left only with pivotal memories to look back on and although torn between sadness and regret, I am equally full of gratitude. Sending love to his family and everyone who felt as closely connected.

I had the pleasure of going on a school trip to Los Angeles with him in 2018 to experience it in all its glory in my grade 12 year. Mr. Robinson was my all time favourite teacher, he just knew how to talk to students and make a difference.

I first met Kevin in 2007 when he was my practicum advisor in Teachers College. He quickly became a mentor and a force that brought our group of teacher candidates together.
Since then, he has been a colleague, the father of 4 of my former students, and a good friend to me.
Kevin was a phenomenal teacher who upheld an academic standard that is being lost in education. He inspired his students, kept the curriculum fresh, made learning fun, and fostered a love of literacy in his students that he so obviously possessed. When my students would come back to visit, they would rave about his English and Film courses and tell me they were desperately hoping to have him as their teacher.
Aside from his exceptional career in education, it was clear that Kevin loved his kids with all his heart. He gushed about their accomplishments, saw all of their potential, advocated for their best interests, and beamed with pride when he spoke about them. 
While this is a devastating loss, maybe there is some solace in the reminder that his powerful impact will live on in the thousands of students, whose lives he changed for the better, and his beautiful children who embody his intelligence, humour, and kindness.

This past school year I was lucky enough to have Mr. Robinson as my grade 10 English teacher. 
I came into the class with an established love for English, however Mr. Robinson managed to increase that interest of mine even more than before. 
He expanded my horizons in terms of discovering what English class really is, and enriched my understanding of why English brings me so much joy. 
Mr. Robinson played a significant role in my current decision to pursue a career in the language side of things, and for that I am forever grateful. 
He increased my confidence in terms of my writing and presenting abilities and never failed to make me laugh over the most random things. 
Every day I looked forward to first period English and I’m going to miss it greatly this coming school year, even more than I could have ever imagined.
At the end of the semester I had sent him a message saying: “I really hope to be your peer tutor next year, so that I am able to relive my incredible grade 10 English experience all over again!” 
I’m extremely disheartened that I will miss out on that opportunity as I enter my grade 11 year and I will be thinking of him constantly as I return to classes in the fall.

My condolences go out to each and every one of his family members, friends, colleagues, students and anyone that had the opportunity to get to know such an incredible human being.

I was one of many students who had Mr. Robinson as an English teacher in high school; and while at the time I found his class to have it's challenges (in the classic angsty-stressed-teenage sense), his lessons and teaching methods truly stuck with me well beyond high school into the rest of my life.

My university life was full of MLA-formatted essays and assignments, and no matter what I tried I always found myself coming back to my notes and references from Mr. Robinson's class. He truly had a talent for teaching in a way that made the lesson material stick in your brain, and his passion for what he taught was palpable every class.

The semester I had him, the Leafs had made it to the playoffs for the first time in several years. While I was a shy kid, I'd wear my jersey to school some days, and Mr. Robinson would tease that he was obligated to cheer for the Bruins. When the Leafs lost in the last few minutes of game 7 (which has become an unfortunate habit, as I'm sure other fans know), he made sure to mention it to me in class the very next day. He truly had a gift for making every student, even us shy and reserved ones, feel like they had a connection with him, and something to look forward to every day. And as someone who was struggling with mental health at the time, in hindsight it meant the world to me.

That energy left such a lasting impact on myself and others, and I have Mr. Robinson to thank for academically getting me to where I am today. It's heartbreaking to hear how someone who made such a positive impact on so many people was struggling themselves. I hope he knew just how much of a difference he made in the world, and I hope we can all aspire to make that same positive difference in others.

My sincerest condolences to his family and children, who he always spoke so highly of whenever he could sneak them into his lessons. My thoughts are with you all.

To say I'm devastated by Kevin's absence is a severe and profound understatement. 

Back when I was a teacher candidate at Trent University, I was brought in to assist with Kevin's Film Studies class and, thanks to our shared penchant for a dark and twisted sense of humour, we instantly became good friends. Kevin frequently invited me into his home where I had the fortune of getting to know Lesley, Aiden, Coen, Liam and Maeve, and where we often caught up over pizza, movies and video games. I'm forever grateful to Kevin and Lesley for looking out for me during a difficult time in my life by offering me the security of their home and the comfort of their family. I cannot thank them enough.  

Kevin always encouraged my passion for filmmaking. He was kind enough to screen my short films at Adam Scott's National Canadian Film Day and I was honoured when he invited me to return as a guest lecturer in his class. I'll never forget hearing his quips from the back of the classroom as I taught, always keeping me on my toes, but also being a good sport when I shot some witty remarks back his way. I can still hear his loud and lively laugh in reply. 

Kevin was an amazing teacher. His passion for what he did was infectious, and I admired his natural ability in the classroom. He loved what he did and it showed in every lesson. His knowledge of cinema and filmmaking marvels me to this day and I can only hope that his legacy will continue at Adam Scott. 

But what I admired most was how proud he was of his family. He lovingly bragged about them during class and between lessons, and when I was able to spend time with them all I saw how much he adored them. 

As I look back, Kevin was a presence in the classroom, in his home, and in my life, so much so that to accept his sudden departure will be an impossible, heart-wrenching task. The void he left behind cannot be filled, and I'll miss him for the rest of my days. 

See you at the movies, Kevin. I hope you'll save a seat for me.

I had the privilege of collaborating with Kevin over books he was bringing into the classroom. His intelligence, passion, and ability to rally people around him who were as excited as he was, was truly admirable. It was a joy to hear his insights, and exciting to witness his conviction to make learning meaningful. His passing is a true loss to the education community. My deepest sympathies to Lesley and family, as well as those in the Adam Scott community. May you rest in peace, Kevin.

Kevin Robinson taught both of my kids at Adam Scott and they often commented on how he was their favourite teacher. As a parent, I could tell how passionate he was about the subjects he taught - it came through so clearly in how each of them approached assignments and projects. Kevin encouraged them to be critical thinkers  and through their exposure to such a wide variety of media, you couldn’t help but to be changed after taking his classes. 
Kevin’s approach to teaching probably prepared my kids for post-secondary education than any other and that says a lot as Adam Scott is filled with great educators.

Kevin was the only teacher who really made a difference for me as a kid. He taught me 12th grade English from 2007-2008. We read Hamlet all semester and he taught us how to be serious people without necessarily being serious; I saw, even then, the merit in that. He was a kind and diligent teacher who moved me to pursue a writing career and encouraged me to be passionate about my own education. I remember very clearly being able to tell that he loved what he did; I only hope he knew how much doing what he loved fundamentally meant helping people,  changing people, helping them change. I happened to be drafting Kevin an email to thank him all these years later when I came across the news. What a terrible loss. There are no other words for it than that. I was reaching out to Kevin to thank him for doing good work, and since he'll never get to read that now I will thank him here, instead. Thank you, Mr. Robinson, for doing good work. It meant something. It means something. My sincere condolences to his family.

Mr. Robinson was my favorite high school teacher. His humerous and often innapropriate remarks made his classes unforgettable, and we all loved him for it. My heart goes out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

I'm so very sorry for this loss of Kevin. He was such a creative, intelligent and dedicated person. I'm away and can't make it to the visitation but Kevin and the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

During high-school I failed the dreaded Ontario Literacy test which then caused me no choice but to drop my art class for the Literacy class. At the time I was really upset about it. As much as I didn't want to go I fulfilled my teenage responsibility. I remeber the day I walked into to class for the first time. There was Mr. Robinson, I can still see his contagious smile and hear him saying " Don't be so excited it's just Literacy" when in fact my face was giving off the opposite look. From that moment on he changed my prespective on learning forever. He had this ability to bring so much joy and happiness to his classroom. Even when I thought I had nothing to offer he had the ability to reminded me that learning is very fluid and I was capable of so much more then what I thought. 

 I'm so sorry for his families loss.

My life would not be what it is today without Mr Robinson. 

I have the honor of being part of his first year of media studies class. He was the only teacher who ever sat down with me to teach me how to write an essay properly and that translated into higher marks in so many classes. 

On top of that, he also is the reason I got into things like classic cinema as well as analyzing movies and appreciating finer details like that. That translated into one of the main interests my husband and I had in common when we met and to this day.

I'll never forget all our inside jokes. Stuff about my spot, how much i'm not a fan of blood in movies (he would always poke fun of during class if it came up). His celebrity crushed Jennifer Connelly being a joke to the class. He also used my end-of-year project as an example going forward, which I always felt so honored by. 

I can honestly say he changed my life in the best of ways with how incredible of a teacher he was for me. 
My absolute sincerest condolences and love to his wife and children who I hope are handling everything in the healthiest and best way possible. I can't imagine the grief they're going through. 
I also want to thank them for having an open visitation which I will be attending with a couple of fellow students. 

Thank you Mr. Robinson for everything and I hope that you're up there talking to your favorite directors as we speak getting to ask them all the questions you want.

My condolence to the family and everyone who cared for this vibrant person. My friend group and I were forever changed in the best way because of this man. 

He grew our minds and actually prepared me for the academic world and it's demands. He had high expectations of us not to be harsh but help us bring out our true abilities. We weren't just kids who were talking about film or English we were young minds who were encouraged to push ourselves. I have had good mentors in my life yet he was the first. I doubt K Robs would remember me but I remember him. I think many people can say that about him. No matter what I think many hold a place in their mind for his energy on analysis in film and English. His passion was clear and infectious.  

I'm sad he's no longer here and I wish his attitude and energy could help more students as he helped me.  With that said I must say I am honored to have know him.

What an amazing human being and one of my favourite teachers from TASS (when I was a high school student myself). I was looking forward to this September, in hopes to see him again as a colleague at Adam Scott.  He was always so genuinely kind and a wonderful man to talk to. Sending condolences to his family and close friends.

I will miss his laugh, his friendship, and his light.  We saw each other through university, weddings, and so much more.  A great friend, an inspiring colleague, and an even better person...you made a massive difference in the lives of so many, my friend.   You are and will always be missed, Kevin.

Even though it's been 20 years since he was my high school teacher at TASS,  Mr. Robinson had such a profound impact on my life. He sparked my love of history and literature which has shaped the adult I've grown in to.  Between taking his classes and him picking me off the peer tutoring list, I had the privilege of learning from the very best. I only wish I had crossed paths with him as an adult so I could have told him what a lasting influence he'd become in my life.  My sincerest condolences to his family and friends.

Grade 12 English was a must, but my friends convinced me to sign up for Film class without me knowing what I was getting myself into. I thought it would be nice to have a class dedicated to watching movies, but this was so much more. To this day I'll still tell people about David Fincher's use of colour in Se7en and Zodiac to indicate emotion. Or how the Coen Brothers purposely gave their most sadistic villain the most ridiculous haircut for the cognitive dissonance and dark humour of it all. And I still make jokes about Room 237 theories any time somebody brings up The Shining (even if I still can't see the helicopter shadow in the opening shot).

But even English class was filled with memories. The time KRobs let Clay Kidd interrupt class with a promposal for Hailey Deller Hadzi. The numerous times we tried to mess with our student teacher, Mr. Ihamaki. I still have the art and the presentation from my final project comparing Victorian crime media, and I still maintain that Lady Audley's Secret would be 1/3 of the length of they didn't pay authors by the word back then (which KRobs also taught me).

Most importantly, when I was going through a hard time in Grade 12, compounded by my first real breakup and, as it turned out, a wicked case of Mono, I knew that Mr. Robinson's classes were something to look forward to. Something that gave me some comfort and stability and more than a few laughs when I needed it. So, to find out too late that somebody so integral to my healing and well being needed help really stings. If I had known the time I ran into him in the grocery store two years ago was going to be the last time I saw him, I would have made a better effort to say hi, say something more to him. But hindsight is 20/20.

My condolences to his family, friends, students, and peers. May his memory and passion live on in the lives he touched. He will be dearly missed.

My daughters Chloe and Ella were privileged to be in his classes this past year. They both loved his energy, enthusiasm, intelligence and humour. He was a significant part of their final year at Adam Scott and our family is heartbroken for your loss.

I feel lucky that I got to work with Kevin. He was an amazing teacher. He was smart, kind his students adored him. He will be so dearly missed. Sincere condolences to the whole family.

As a former student of Mr. Robinson, I am so deeply saddened to hear of his passing. 

Kevin Robinson was a phenomenal teacher; one who was truly admirable. He was incredibly smart, insightful, and passionate. He inspired me in ways that no other teacher had before, and as his student, I looked up to him in many ways as a result. I remember taking his film studies course as an elective and being so glad that I did. He made that course one of a kind, and his lessons were always mentally stimulating; I genuinely don’t think I found myself bored once while he was teaching (and that says a lot because I was otherwise a chronically bored student back in high school lol). Through his teachings, I gained knowledge and insights that I still draw from today. He even changed the way in which I watch and appreciate films, as I haven’t been able to simply watch a movie without analyzing it on some level since taking his course seven years ago. Notably, it was Mr. Robinson who all those years ago, had initially made me realize the passion I have for film and writing (particularly literary analysis). This passion has only continued to develop since, and has been a driving force behind much of my post-secondary work. I am immensely grateful to have had such an impactful and inspiring teacher.

The last time I saw Mr. Robinson was a couple years ago when I was working at a grocery store. He had stopped in to grab a few things. He recognized me and we briefly caught up. After he left, I remember thinking how nice it was to have gotten to have that quick chat with him. However, looking back now, I wish we could have chatted for just little bit longer. Long enough for me to have thanked him for being such a great teacher, and for all the ways in which he had contributed to my education and passions; because a teacher as profound as he was deserves that acknowledgment.

If there is one teacher from my high school days who I could never forget, it’s Mr. Robinson. May he rest in peace

My condolences to his family. Kevin was such an inspiration to me as I became a teacher. I owe so much to him in terms of redefining what it was to teach and how to push the limits of learning and creative teaching. In my grade 12 English class he taught a lesson connecting Hamlet to a Linkin Park song, it changed the way I think about connecting literature to bigger and wider themes.  He gave me that lesson to use in my practicum teaching when I was a nervous student teacher. As I transitioned to full time teaching in China, he happily handed me novel study and grammar resources and his much coveted list of novels and songs sorted thematically to help me continue his passion and creativity. He was also a family friend and this loss hits hard. He will always be remembered and greatly missed.

Mr Robinson was always the highlight of my day in grade 10 English! Every morning walking in and hearing him talk about his love for cheezies (specifically the crunchy ones, the carnival cheezies), his beloved children and all his jokes about the students and their little nicknames that he called them from corny little things that happened throughout the year! THE BEST memory of him YET was when he and another staff member did a fake fight at the relay for life kickoff assembly and he wore the captain america suit…AND dancing a Greece dance that same day, he was a champ about it but it was totally up his alley! I will always remember hearing him and his lessons out in the hall as I was trying to do work, it would always make my day learning something from a class I was never in, when I wasn’t even focusing on the one I was supposed to be working on at the time (still did great in that class tho😂)
I will admit, he really pushed me to do my best in his class. And when I didn’t get the marks I wanted I argued him and he told me to do better every time in that tone😂, he was one of the people who was hard on me for a reason cause he knew I could do better cause he saw it in me. Now I look back and thank him because I know he was right, and I could do better, He is the reason I am a better writer now! Although I hated the marks he gave me sometimes and his terrible dad jokes I loved going to his class everyday and he never failed to make every single person in that class laugh. 
Not to mention his competitive side, oh lord…when we had the baby photo contest I have never seen a man more invested in winning an ice cream party…we did it though, mostly thanks to him 😂

Rest In Peace to this legand. You will be grately missed by those who’s hearts you touched; your students both present and graduated, staff members and most importantly your family.

I don't think he remembered me after I left high school but I was not a particularly easy student to deal with in his Grade 10 English class but he was always encouraging, stern but encouraging. I struggled that year with self-confidence and bullying. I came back for his Grade 12 Media Studies course and he pulled me aside to tell me how proud he was of me for the improvements I made and the dedication I had to the course. Those who know me know I am notrious for getting rid of things but, I still have every single one of those assignments. I was so lucky to have had him as my teacher and he will be missed. He may have not known it but that Media Studies course allowed me to have a light in a lot of really dark years.

Kevin was my English teacher throughout high school. Kevin is the type of person who believed in you even when you didn’t believe in yourself. There were countless times I’d be ready to give up and he’d help give that extra push to get me there. He was always patient, kind and caring with each and everyone of us students. I’ve always said I wouldn’t be where I am today without a teacher like Mr. Robinson there to help with everything along the way! Whether it were in the halls or in the store Kevin would never hesitate to say hello. You have made an impact on many students lives! We could never thank you enough! Rest in peace Mr. Robinson.❤️

Over the past ten years, Kevin invited me as a guest into his classroom and also into his home, more times than I can count; in the process, he not only introduced me to his family but  made me feel like a part of it, one warm, friendly 24-hour round-trip visit at a time. We became friends because Kevin was interested in having me talk to his students about cinema, and I always told the kids in his class how lucky they were to have such a passionate,  encouraging instructor—one who cared so deeply about both his material and the people learning it. As I'm writing this, I can't believe that I won't ever again be in that classroom again with him, trying to get his laptop to connect to the projector so we could show clips from Youtube. It breaks my heart, and in truth, I take no comfort in knowing that I'm not alone. To Lesley, Liam, Maeve, Coen and Aiden: I'm sending love from Toronto and I hope I'll see you soon.

Kevin was everyone’s favourite high school teacher and I frequently ran into him at the grocery store and the gym. He was the cool and fun teacher that got along with everyone and was so inspiring to me with his passion for his students and his love of all things film. I used to visit him after I graduated and would spend the occasional lunch break in his classroom. He always said hi whenever I saw him. Such a sweet soul gone too soon. Rest in Peace, Kevin. You are greatly missed. My condolences to Kevin’s family ❤️

Kevin was my English teacher in Grade 12 at Adam Scott and was extremely influential in my way of thinking when it comes to film and literary works. He gave me the foundation of my writing skills today which I use in every facet related to my occupation. I often found myself thinking of Kevin, and although I may have not had the strongest student-teacher bond with him, I can’t express enough how much his class impacted me and my success today.

I was shocked to hear of Mr. Robinson's passing. I was a student of his at TASSS. He was my grade 10 english and history teacher. I often think about my time in his class. I remember how he made all the dry topics in history fascinating. I’d come to english class everyday excited to read Shakespeare. He was the first teacher to pass a paper back to me and say “it’s good, but I’m disappointed because you can do so much better”. He understood what his students were capable of. And pushed to receive the best of them. To the family: we’re all thinking of you at this time.

Mr. Robinson was my favourite high school teacher! I had the pleasure of being taught by him 3 times. He was the kind of teacher who got to know his students, took the time to talk to each of us. Mr. Robinson quickly learned I did not like to be called on unless my hand was up, that meant I was 100% confident I knew the answer. I’ll never forget the one day I put my hand up, he shouted “is that Emilie back there with her hand up” the whole class turned to look at me. Luckily it was the right answer. Mr. Robinson taught us how to be adults, how to be prepared for university and the real life. I’m truly saddened by the thought of no more children getting to learn from him. 

Mr. Robinson you will truely be missed, rest easy🤍

To the family: the time that I spent in Kevin's classes was formative for me. He shaped and honed my writing skills and pushed me to continue to follow my love of reading, writing, and film. He was the first person to tell me that I would make an amazing professor. I took his advice and pursued a degree in English, and then a Masters and PhD in literature. I think of Kevin's advice often and hear his jokes every time I read Hamlet. Beyond this, I hold so many warm memories of spending time in your home with the kids before school. The love that I could see Kevin held for his kids radiated in your house. Even when he was rushing around making his smoothie or losing his watch he took time to chat over breakfast and always showed so much interest in my progress at school. He will be very missed and fondly remembered. Aiden and Coen, you probably don't remember me very well, but know that I think of you often and wish you the very best. You are loved!

I’ll miss Kevin’s sense of humour and chatting about the Jays in the halls. Adam Scott won’t be the same without him. 

My sincere condolences to Kevin’s family. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

I’m so sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing. He was a charismatic, engaging teacher at Adam Scott for both of my daughters. I’m sure he will be terribly missed and my sincere condolences to all of his family, friends and former students.

There are many good high school teachers. There are some very good ones.  There are  very very few truly excellent teachers.  Kevin was one of those rare teachers that fell into the later category.  Students truly loved Kevin and his lessons.  He was the favourite high school teacher of all my three children (and many others).  They all remarked that he prepared them for university better than anyone.  They all now share his passion for film which to this day, heightens family conversations around film.  All their friends felt the same about his teaching.  That's an impressive legacy!

Kevin was also an excellent, smart and fun colleague and always provided great support for the English Department at Adam Scott.  I loved the fact that he was innovative and liked to take academic risks.  He was my kind of teacher!   

RIP Kevin.  I wish you were here.  I feel for the future students who will miss your great lessons.  I wish you had talked to someone.  We are all stunned and saddened by your death.   :(
