KIRKWOOD, Kenneth Earl – Retired from GE. WWII Vet. Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. Member of RCL Branch #52. Member of Bridgenorth United Church. Avid gardener and nature lover. – Peacefully, at Lakefield Extendicare, on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 91 years of age. Ken was the beloved husband of the late Gladys Mary (nee Bolton) for 55 years (2000). Loving father of Kenneth “Bob” Kirkwood (wife Lois Thomas, predeceased by wife Mary Elizabeth Warren) of Kingston, Gordon Kirkwood (wife Jane) of Ennismore and Kevin Kirkwood (wife Bonnie) of Georgetown. Dear Grandpa of Scott (fiancée Tamara Tulloch), Jennifer (husband Darryn Gray), Catherine Kirkwood (John Hallam), Bonnie Kirkwood (fiancée Ryan Murphy), David Kirkwood (Amy LeClair), Caitlin Kirkwood & Andrew Kirkwood. Great-grandfather of Sadie, Cody and Jayden. Brother of Alma (husband Ernie Mabo), Martha Closs, and the late James, Grace Elliott, Jenny McDonald, Jack, Ruby McGhion, Lula Ryder, Bill (surviving wife Iva Kirkwood), Norman (surviving wife Leta Kirkwood), Lloyd and Doris. Brother-in-law of Valetta Stewart and Nola Bolton. Ken will also be remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Visiting will be held at the COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Sunday, October 31, from 2-4 pm and at BRIDGENORTH UNITED CHURCH, 832 Charles St., Bridgenorth, on Monday, November 1, from Noon – 1 pm with a funeral service to follow at 1 pm. Reverend Anne Gowans-Blinn officiating. Interment at St. Mark’s Cemetery, Warsaw. Donations to War Amps would be appreciated.
