Retired co-owner and operator of CR Control. Thirty-one year employee of General Electric. Long-time member of Trinity United Church. Proud designer and builder of his home on Chemong Lake, who loved to ski, golf, sail, boat and travel with his friends and family. Peacefully, with his family at his side, on Monday, March 4, 2013, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Palliative Care, in his 83rd year. John was the beloved husband of the late Betty Stirling (previously Young, nee Armstrong). Previously married to the late Annie Stirling (nee McRae), the mother of his children. Cherished father of Jan Stirling-Twist (Huel) and Jeh Stirling. Life-long friend and business partner of Warren Peters. John is the beloved brother of Mary Hildebrand. Predeceased by his parents, Alice (nee Wheeler) and William Stirling, his brothers David and Robert and his nephew Ian Stirling. John will be remembered by many other nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. A Celebration of John’s life will be held at PRINCESS GARDENS, 100 Charlotte St., Peterborough, in the chapel, on Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 am with visiting one hour prior. A reception will follow in the fireside lounge. Reverend Doctor Richard Boehme will officiate. Funeral arrangements entrusted to COMSTOCK FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street.
