Passed in to a well deserved rest at St. Joseph’s of Fleming on December 9, 2023 at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Elwood “Terry” Wm Riel (1996). Dear Loving mother to Kathy E Riel-Heeringa (Richard) and Paul A Riel (Joycelyn). Dear sister of the late Ray Cole (Cass). Proud Aunty Jean to Glenn (Janet).
Jean was ambitious, adventurous, spontaneous and just good fun. She loved all animals, especially her dog Molly. A creative person, Jean was an oil painting artist, quilt maker, and a proud homemaker. She was a lover of food and gatherings; when entertaining her guests, she was a jokester with an easy smile. Our family navigator on many trips near and far. Her enthusiasm and love will be missed by her family, life long childhood friends, neighbours, her congregation at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, care givers and her dog Molly.
We would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s at Fleming, especially the staff in Woodland F (you are angels among us), Millbrook Community Care and the surrounding services of Millbrook. Thank you also to Centennial Place Millbrook Long Term Care's patience and understanding in allowing Kathy the time to take care of her mom. Thank you also to the friends and neighbours in the Hamlet of Ida for their understanding, kindness and care in keeping mom and Molly safe. You can make a donation to the Alzheimer Society or give your time to help our seniors living with this disease at home in your community.
A Memorial Service will be held at the COMSTOCK-KAYE LIFE CELEBRATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street, Peterborough on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Interment at Rosemount Memorial Gardens. Online memories and condolences can be shared at www.comstockkaye.com
